Off-Topic / United Europe
« on: 14-09-2011, 20:09:46 »
I am the only one annoyed by the lack of cohesion, leadership and vision shown by the political leaders in Europe.
The very first time the Euro is in danger by multiple financial crisis(Bank crisis, Greece crisis, perhaps Portugal, Ireland and Spain too) and it's back to every (wo)man for himself again.

One of the bottlenecks is the European emergency fund. The financial market needs to know when, if and how it's going to come. And yet you see countries like Germany demanding veto rights for every time a request for fund is made, Finland wanting guarantees it can back out of the fund at any time. And every other country now of course wants the same thing or is bickering that nobody gets anything.
I mean, come on, you have one currency and you must take appropriate measures to uphold it and not this painful display of incompetence.

Rant off

Besides my rant, who thinks Greece is going to default(bankrupt)? It's looks like the only way to go if reforms are implemented strong and fast enough. It's time the banks and other institutions take their loses and say goodbye to whatever money Greece owns them.

Thoughts, comments ?

Due to the wikkileaks boycot by companies like Mastercard and Visa some groups have decided to DDoS their sites to hell.

The group anonymous has targeted a few sites like Amazon, Mastercard, Visa and Moneymakers. Yesterday a sixteen year old Dutch kid named "Jeroenz0r" (Zomg!) was arrested for being a ring leader.
Now Anon has target the website of our Openbare Ministerie (Attorney general). The website http://www.om.nl/ is currently down.

So what do you think. Is this the new civil disobedience or cyber terrorism?

Off-Topic / BMW 3 Serie VS Audi A4
« on: 03-12-2010, 14:12:46 »
In a few months I'll be choosing my new company car and I can't decide between BMW 3 and the Audi A4.
Things I am looking for in a car in order of most important:

- Design
- Car handling
- Standard package. (Does it come with standard Bi-Xenon headlights, MP# radio, etc)
- No environment polluter (No Hummer  :))
- Price

Currently I am inclined to go with the BMW 3, because of the Stop and Go system and the rear-wheel drive (Although I have to test if this is an advantage)

If you have a different preference post it and tell us why.

It's allowed to be biased on this topic, so if you hate boring Volvo's please don't hold back.

Off-Topic / How to undelete files
« on: 24-11-2010, 22:11:26 »
Since I make it a habit of perma deleting files or screwing up my partions table when tinkering around with my PC I thought why not share my recovery tool with the rest of you.

Testdisk is tool to allows you to recover files that you've deleted. It's freeware and works very easy. Don't be scared by the DOS prompt environment.
All you need to do is start Testdisk_win, you wil get a pop screen that turns into a Dos environment, press enter a few times until your screen looks like this

Choose the drive you want to undelete the files from, press enter twice and then choose advanced.
From there you choose undelete
And then search for the files you deleted. Use the : key to select files and press C to copy all your selected files to a default restore folder.

You can even boot this stuff from an USB disk to unfuck a deleted partition table situation.
You can find it here --> http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk

Naow you can amaze your family by recovering that embarrassing video from aunt Karen.
And no, NTH has not turned into an advertisement bot  :P

Off-Topic / BGF Test server **Cancelled**
« on: 01-09-2010, 11:09:58 »
Well I finally managed to get my server to show up in the Multiplayer Server list.
It has to do more with luck then skills.

This server will be live from Friday 3 September from 19.30 PM CET till 23.30 PM CET. The name is NTH's BGF server.

You can download the client files here:

http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/battlefield2/mod/26764.html

Word on the tank handling, it's cumbersome, I wonder if FH2 is balanced for this.

If you can't see the server in the browser you can connect directly to this ip:
195.240.60.83 on port 16567

There is dating site especially for the ugly people:

I think I will sue them because I am not allowed on that site and that's discriminating, right!  ;)

Off-Topic / Opening up a can of worms
« on: 28-07-2010, 11:07:26 »
You'll probably all heard about the 90.000 documents on the war in Afghanistan posted on Wikki Leaks.
Or perhaps you are reading them, using control+F to search for Dutch and Gay to see what the Americans really have to say about the Dutch Army.

Now the content of the information should not be shocking, cause all the information filtered by the MoD should be taken with a pinch of salt. So knowing that more civilians are being killed then is publiced by the MoD or that Choppers that crashed are not really caused by malfunctions,
but more likely heat seeking Missiles owned by the Taliban are not eye openers for those with common sense.

What I really find disturbing, how the hell do 90.000 documents, with names, dates and places end up at Wikkileaks.
Is all that money for security spend on machines that can spew out a double frappuccino, but can't block sensitive information   ::)

Off-Topic / Death Parade
« on: 26-07-2010, 15:07:02 »
This yearly Love Parade ended with the death of 19 people in a stampede that ensued near a crowed tunnel and about 500 people injured.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-10751899

People are blaming the organization, mayor (he got booed out when hen went to visit) and everybody's aunt, except the assholes that started the stampede.

So what do you think?

People should take responsibility for their own actions or is the organization and the parties allowing the Parade to be held there responsible for this tragic incident.

My take on this is that organization is certainly found lacking, but that in the end you choose if you want partake in this parade.
I had similiar experience with this kind of happenings (Only injuries then) and since then I avoid massive crowds like the plague.

Off-Topic / Dutch Commanders sued for Genocide
« on: 07-07-2010, 10:07:10 »
Yesterday the relatives from the men who were murdered in the Srebrenica massacre pressed charges
against the Dutch Commanders, who were in charge of protecting the Srebrenica enclave .
They are charged with complicity in genocide, war crimes and murder.

http://www.rnw.nl/english/article/relatives-seek-genocide-charges-against-srebrenica-peacekeepers-0

The Commanders are Commander Thomas Karremans, Deputy Commander Rob Franken and personnel officer Berend Oosterveen

For those unfamiliar with the Srebrenica massacre. It is the largest post WWII massacre in Europe :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Srebrenica_massacre

My thoughts on this. You have responsibility and accountibility. Now I don't find the Dutch Commanders responsible for the slaughtering, that is on the hands of Mladić, but there is someone who is accountable for not defending the enclave as they should have. And for not handing over the men and boys to the General Ratko Mladić.

The question is should it be the Dutch Commander who was tasked with defending the enclave or the men responsible for giving him the task and the means with which to do it.

Your thoughts.

On a side note. A few months ago a American General said the fall of Srebrenica was due to the gay Dutch soldiers: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/7478738/Gay-Dutch-soldiers-responsible-for-Srebrenica-massacre-says-US-general.html
