Transformerbays.

Both movies  were horrible in my view.

Quote from: Spoilerz
At least the 80s had balls to kill Optimus in the first minutes of the movie and had a way cooler plot that didn't revolved around the 'humorous' mishaps of two teens. Devastator ain't got shit on Unicron.

Leon
Watching it right now, about halfway through it. But seen it before.

What can I say, this has to be one of my favourite films of all time.
First of all, Jean Reno does his role as Leon amazingly. There is no other word than amazing. And Natalie Portman is definitely the best child-actor/actress I've ever seen, though I've only seen her (as a child) in this film.
The film manages to portray "The Professional" perfectly, with all his daily routines and everything.
Of course it may seem a bit cliché, the whole story with a little cute kid changing a mans life. But this is better than anything in that genre I've seen.
Now when I see it, I also recognize the symbolism between Leon and his plant. he says "the plant is like me, no roots" and Matilda answers "you should plant it out in the wild so it can grow roots if you love it so much. But you should really water me instead if you want me to grow". (I was too young to realize the symbolism when I was younger).

Anyway...

10/10, no doubt. this is in total the 3rd time I'm watching it, but there is no doubt I will watch it many many times more. It always really moves me, one of the few films that really makes me sentimental.

Edit: didn't notice until now, but I'm now a full member! yay

I see were you are trying to reach: "how can a 17 year old kid have such a thinking like this? why doesnt he wants to be like normal teens who whana get rich? and his plan actually makes sense, but is too damn revolutionary and good at the same time than is still doubthfull if it works..." - Damaso

It didn't have the best acting. Or the best story. Or the best writing. But they are were all pretty good. And the movie was just downright fucking Epic. No other words. Blew my face off at the theater. And the way Cameron does exposition fits perfectly. He explains how this whole new world works without stopping the movie to do so. It is definitley a must see.

Side note: Ted, Leon is such a great movie :). Gary oldman is a great villian too

Hey, what are you saying about Michael Bay... Why do people hate Pearl Harbor so much, I loved that movie... Ok, wait a minute, don't -ve rep me! *Runs away*

It was like many other bad movies that promised something but delivers something else.

They were saying "Pearl Harbor", i was expecting an epic historical drama with typical Hollywood-added love romance. But no, it should be "Hawaii love triangle" instead of "Pearl Harbor". Sure the action part is epic with glitches here and there (using late-war Zeroes, late war P-40s, and you can even see modern US Destroyers and Frigates there).

I like Leon too, i somehow loved Luc Besson's work. Although the story is shallow, i am really entertained when watching Leon.

Gary Oldman did the best unhinged fellow before The Dark Knight showed up on the scene in that movie, that's for sure...

Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull

This movie received a lot of hate, but I found it not worse than the other IJ movies: a mindless rollercoaster ride from one ridiculous scene to another. People complained about the "Aliens" but srsly, are they weirder than the Jewish face melting ghosts from film 1 or the century old knight from the Last Crusade?

What it did lack though, was a sense of 'lesson learned'. I mean this was made how many years after the orignials, you'd think it will bring the plot a tad up to speed with time.

Sure, indy has never been about Underlying meaning, but it seemed more for fans of Indiana Jones than as a means of letting anyone appreciate the sheer adventure of it all

Aliens actually made sense considering the 50s and the Reds were most probable 'bad-guys', but they lacked character. You tend to get a sense of the Nazis in the Last Crusade as well as the Raiders of the Lost Ark, but besides their accent, This one didn't build on them at all, no archetypes, nothing... The one character that was well developed was the kid, and that's as much because the actor is charismatic in his performance

The natives didn't play as big a role as they should have and the aliens could have been brought in with more suspense than the 5 minutes they lasted in it. And certainly some of the scenes, epsecially the Tarzan were a bit too far-fetched... But otherwise, it at least kicks Temple of Doom's ass, unless they release a version without that obnoxious Chinese kid!

For me, 6/10.. Nothing new to report, Not even a theme for the Reds to match that of the Nazis in the previous ones.

I think they should have done one with him in WW2 first, rather than battle over egos... this is a sad conclusion to such an iconic character - At least it beats the Terminator franchise, which is still killing itself as we speak
