Ts4EVER's favourite map poll, 2.3 edition
« on: 19-11-2010, 20:11:37 »
I do this after every patch, but this time I almost forgot.
Make sure to also post the reason for you liking the maps down in the thread. Perhaps also include a map that makes you leave the server every time it comes on, if there is one.

Everyone has 4 votes.

Operation Cobra:

Reasson?

I like it very much; it has some good choke points, some urban combat, good terrain for tank combat, good defence and offense and of course fighters combat as well.

St. Lo: for its beautiful landscape, open fields and the need for tactial teamplay (hill etc)

Invasion of Crete: Teamplay map per exelance, very hard for Germans if they have weak squadleaders.

Mareth Line: A map that offers you many different ways to start. Planes, Tanks, Infantry everything works here.

El Alamein: The only really tank map with far distance battles.
----

Maps that are not really playable:
Anctonville: Rapefest for germans all the time
Op. Aberdeen: needs a new layout
Siege of Tobruk : 2pd problem.

I picked:
-Bardia - rounds on this map are ALWAYS fun.
-Hyacinth - I just really like the night time atmosphere.
-Tunis - into the meatgrinder ;D
-St. Lo - even I like to come out of the sand sometimes.

As for the maps I leave servers for:
-Aberdeen - for shockingly bad design and boring gameplay.
-El Al - for boring gameplay and unbreakable stalemates.
-Supercharge - for lasting far too long after the exciting beginning phase.

Siege of Giarabub
Totalize
Port en Bessin
Purple Heart Lane

Only two I realy don't like : Aberdeen (for obvious reasons), and Ramelle (too repetitive)

If it was a top 5 I would have said Sidi too ...

- Purple heart lane. It is the best artistic map seen in BF2 evah!
- Port en Bessin. This one comes close to PHL in the art department.
- Fall of Tobruk. Great decor, fantastic gameplay. Never gets boring.
- Brest. Played it today and realised how awesome it is on a public server to see infantry guiding a tank through narrow streets

No, I'm an all time member of the Sidi Rezegh fanclub :)

Sidi Rezegh - the beauty of this map is still a challenge for any new map in the mod. The building at 18. Regimentsgfechtsstand is still one of the most exciting flags to fight for. A shame that the ticketbleed doesn't work properly: if it did, it'd be also one of, if not the, best gameplay map.

Invasion of Crete - another example of unique gameplay (this one works, however). I enjoy this map thoroughly every time I play it. Best flag is Monastery.

Battle of Brest - best urban combat map. Makes me feel a bit like I'm in Stalingrad, the atmosphere is awesome.

St. Lo Breakthrough - at first I didn't like this map so much, but the hill-flag is also a favourite flag of mine. I can spend entire rounds defending or attacking it. Never gets dull. The rest of the map isn't so good, so that is why I was thinking about maybe voting for Vilers Bocage instead because of its versatile vehicle gameplay. Villers doesn't have a flag which is as epic as Hill, though.

Maps I don't really like to play:

- El Al: ends up in a stalemate often, and with the amount of tickets, it can last for over an hour easily, which is too long, imo.

- Goodwood: I have played this map too often. It is almost always next in the rotation whenever I join. The map itself is good, I'm just a bit bored with it.

- Mersa Matruh: same stalemate probs as El Al. Only flag I like is Garawla.

- Totalize: see Goodwood.

My favorites don't actually represent online play sadly. But imo, as far as COOP is concerned,

Alam Halfa, St. Lo, Brest (Albeit a tad too small and over to quickly), Ramelle (A bit of a meat-grinder at 48 players though) and Totalize.

Online, Point en Bessin, Lebisey and Luttich (Albeit, a tad to small in effective combat area)
