Title: you do not have this map? failure to connect to server?
Post by: sheikyerbouti on 15-09-2009, 08:09:54
 Hey,
I seem to be victim to some sort of massive FH2 failure. It started off this evening when I could not connect to the World at War and the War is Hell servers. Both of these servers allowed me to load the map but as soon as client verification is running, I get the "connection problems" error message. (this results in me crashing to FH multiplayer page with the server usually showing 2500 ping afterwards)

Second issue has popped up after i reinstalled FH2 and switched over to Kaspersky Internet security (had Norton before). I reinstalled FH2, using the original download that has worked for me until today. Now that the install is complete, I receive the error message that I "do not have the map that is in current rotation". (the map was Op Goodwood)

wtf is going on and how do I solve this? I have ...
windows XP sp3
amd athlon 64 3000+
2 gig's RAM
Nvidia Geforce 7300 GT

Patched from bf 1.41 to BF 1.5
fully reinstalled FH 2.2
changed firewall and Internet security

I had the same thing yesterday. Server crashed on me. After that  my router decided to screw me over.
Do you still have issue number one?
For issue number two go the FH2 mod folders and check if the maps are there.

fingers crossed but I may have fixed everything.

First issue turns out to be a malicious uprising of Punkbuster that took 3 complete uninstalls/ reinstalls from evenbalance.com to fix. For some reason, the PunkBuster GUID can hang on its' connection for long enough to cause the sever to disconnect the player's connection. (it also crashes FH2 from time to time)

The second issue turned out to be as a result of my not accomplishing a proper uninstall of FH2. It sucks having to track everything down by hand and clear it off your HD before trying to re-install FH2 since one mistake buggers up the installation. (I hope the Dev team can eventually write in a proper uninstall like Pirates2 has)

In tandem with the reinstallation of FH2, I now have a bunch of new FH2 folders sitting on my desktop and I am curious if they need to be there? (they are called Temp, tools, update, minimaps and each folder appears to be empty)

well those on your desktop can be deleted no idea where they come from
and to completly uninstall FH2 you need to delete the bf2/mods/fh2 folder the removes almost everything then there is the FH2.exe and the crashreporter.exe (+ log files) in the bf2 root folder. thats it

The desktop folders have appeared from me creating a faulty Fh2 toolbox shortcut, I will figure out a fix eventually because I like using the toolbox to see if my favourite servers are populated.

i still have the connection issue regarding PB hanging on the GUID interface, some servers seem to be patient and let PB take its time and other servers give me about 15 seconds to make a succesful PB connection before I get kicked. (I think my router is the culprit, here's hoping a new one solves that problem, otherwise I am fresh out of ideas)

How about restarting your router.
Also there are some ways to force PB to broadcast use the BF2 console (at least in bf1942 it worked).
Trying googling for that. PB commands BF2 console.
