Man, I forgot how many mods there were for 42. Not quite halflife standards, but definitely getting up there.

I played tons of EoD, Silent Heroes, Desert Combat, and Galactic Conquest, all fantastic mods.

I also tried out alot of smaller esoteric ones that didnt last too long, but had cool ideas and worked well in the engine. I can't recall any of their names, so ill just give descriptions.

-Warhammer 40k mod. Play as space marines. Drive around in predator tanks with twin-linked lascannons. Cool.

-Post Apocalypse mod. Shoot people with rebar launchers and sawed-off shotguns. Had some awesome weapon and vehicle ideas. Totally mad max.

-Transformers mod. Pick a class. Use class to transform into vehicle (soldier=tank, scout=jeep, ect ect). Awesome.

-Medieval mod. Use swords, spears, and arrows. "drive" catapults and horses. This is the mod fh1 got the idea of "shotgun" melee weapons from. So blame them for uber-knives.

Ah, I feel so bad when you all praise BF1918. I tried it a few times back in the days but the lack of players never made it possible for me to see it  :-\

Sengoku - was an awesome samurai mod with just freaking bizarre inventions done by modders. Never got that far but it was still tons of fun!

BF1942 has great mods.

Imo, FHSW is at the top of my list. Its soooooo epic. I love the sounds, effects, and gameplay has been tweaked too.

Norwegian resistance, FHT tried to save them by creating a Campaign. I joined them and i remember my very first battle. Attack on a island, whit a German Cruiser. It was epic, my company was pinned down by the angry norwegians and their coastal guns, and then from nowhere, at your right, the Cruiser, firing its overubersized guns at the coastal betterys.

So much fun.

Another mod that was a big hit at LAN party's all over Sweden and instant became a bit of a cult mod here was Silent Heroes.

Problem often was nobody here wanted to play as the Norwegians  ;)

Anyhow, that was a great mod. Very well-made and I know still, a lot of people who get together and play it once every week.

Torenico, you mean this map?

It was fun indeed! as long as the axis didn't run the ship (the Blücher) on to the ground, which in bf42 causes horrendous lag and chaos... but it was an evil ship.  :D

Anybody play Battlegroup 42? http://www.battlegroup42.de/
They are also focusing on WW2 related stuff like FH and XWW2. It seems they have several unique vehicles that hasn't made it into either FH or XWW2 and also some 'forgotten' maps.
