I'm a little bit disappointed because I was hoping for a Mediterranean/Africa serie, but it will be a great show :)

yay!  Though I also was hoping for something not focused on the Americans.  But that is their big target audience, understandably.

Yeah Africa is one of those theatres where you don't have a lot of newer movies/series made... I guess that's because the war was much more "fair" at that time, so you don't have a lot of "we learnt to hate them utterly, just like they did to us" drama going on... However some stories about the desert war could easily be action/documentary matierial, such as this one:

Guess there's too few American influence in Africa and too much of British/Commonwealth to choose it :P

But looking forward, it's going to be good entertainement I guess.

They should done the story of the Big red 1. The 1st infantry division of the US army.

Operation torch(NA)-Operation Husky-Normandy campaign-Battle of the bulge-Breaktrough at the siegfried line-Breaktrough at remagen

Sounds like one epic series to me.

Bomber boys... well Flak and some air combat. This has already been in Red Tails, Memphis Belle etc. I hope they include something new and special. But after the 2 previous series I´m sure they wont disappoint us.

Someone here who has read through the book the series will be based on?

Am I the only one that was a bit disappointed by The Pacific? I liked the serie, but i was disappointed by how few combat action there was, compared to Band of Brothers. Band of Brothers was like a longer Saving Private Ryan, but The Pacific was half of the time or more, just filming the home situations, ofc that's also an aspect of the war, but i hoped to see more combat action, especially since they called the serie "The Pacific", there were so many fights there that it must be so hard to choose what battle you select, and thet they do so few.

I still enjoyed The Pacific in some way, but Band of Brothers was a lot better indeed.

As a footslogger I´m not really interested in that whole air force business, so I´m not exactly hyped about the announced series. Also, WW2 still feels "old", I´d rather see a series about less-known conflicts or atleast about less-known theatres from WW2. Imagine a series about Wingates Chindits or the Winter War! Or even better: A series about the African theatre during WW1! One can dream, though...
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

Imagine a series about the Winter War!

Like Talvisota http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098437/ ?

It's television version is 5 hours in total, cut into episodes with loads of stuff you dont see in the 3 hour film.

They should do a series like "The longest day", telling the war from several view points start to end.
