I think it has much to do with the fact that FH1 has simply more stuff atm. Fh2 is played almost exclusively in Europe atm (at least public). There's hoping that 2.2 will change that.

What do you think about that fact, that more people plays FH1 than FH2?

I think it shows that FH is still a very strong mod. Why? Are you trying to get a flame war started?

players have to choose between either start a game with only africa, or a game with africa + europe + early war + eastern front + pacific front.. that's the simple truth.
That the games on which the mods are built on were released 2002 or 2005 doesnt matter.

I kind of feel this is not attempted as some indepth analysis anyway, nor do I think we will solve any mysterious secrets that will benefit any mods..
I wonder more how it can rain 7 days straight in july in Sweden, now that is weird  ??? :o

I also think that the statement of Jürgen is not right basically.
The player's figures with FH1 and FH2 are mostly in similar size, often on the weekend with FH2 even higher.

This can be easily verified with game-monitor.com.

Where do you live where it has rained for 7 days?
In stockholm it rained a LOT yesterday and during the night (+ lightning and thunder).
I see were you are trying to reach: "how can a 17 year old kid have such a thinking like this? why doesnt he wants to be like normal teens who whana get rich? and his plan actually makes sense, but is too damn revolutionary and good at the same time than is still doubthfull if it works..." - Damaso

Yeah Sweden sucks, bad weather and all :P.

Its also a odd that we had over 2 weeks straight over 25 degrees warm here in Finland.

Pretty warm here near Vaasa but raining.

Anyway, haven't played FH1 in ages but afaik there is always one server full in FH1 and in FH2 so there is not really a big difference.

A little profiling just to get the ball rolling...

I can't disagree with his opinion - Bots are extremely stupid in FH1 and heavily-RAM dependent it seems, but the game is 70% (0.7) while FH2 is only 15% as far as nomenchlateur goes, granted 2.0 doesn't imply 0%

I wont draw anyone into a long argument about the facts, but here is my assesment on that:

Forgotten Hope
PROS
Over 150 maps if you play MP, 110 for SP
Variety in regard to theaters of war
Diverse selection of weapons and special devices
Variety of tanks, cars and vehicles
Let's face it, flying rocks
Sound effect include distant sound variant, great sound effects for numerous weapons, cannons and vehicles - And it has whizz for all shells and bullets with clear distinctions between calibre :-)
Heavily modable with FHSW and Sound and texture mod including even more vehicles, more maps and better sound effect
Random headgear and in later maps, uniform
Random kits
AI tank battles alot more reasonable
Vehicles can be disabled rather than destroyed
Automatic divehorn
external view of vehicles
You can tell where a person in a vehicle is facing by where his head is turned
Glass frost
Engaging battle engagements in SP with arty barrage and distant tank supression
Better spotting system

Cons
AI have the IQ of frozen yoghurt inspite of ingenius improvements to stock AI
AI snipes rather than shoots
Vehicle destruction unconvincing, although tres cool in effect
Limit on amount of weapons aircrafts can use
Limit in kit number
Exploits
Mod extremely heavy on resources with massive load time and unresolvable lag
Ability of some vehicles to kill themselves and planes can yaw and hit their own deployed bombs, possible - but not probable
External view of vehicles
Damage system limited for vehicle damage
Paper weight destructables
Limited animations
Graphic limitations
Limited speed of travel - Walking doesn't serve much of a purpose
Sound rate limit

Forgotten Hope 2
PROS
Improved Lighten including sun glare, dynamic shadows
Conditional Special effects such as blurr effect, bleeding and ringing
Varying speed of travel
Varying unit model per unit type
Realistic aniumations
Intelligent bots with improved pathmapping, logical actions and abilities
Realistic bot miss rate
Realistic sized vehicles
Divehorn in player control
Freelook in tanks rather than external view
Salvo type selection
Ability to hold pin on grenade
Realistic damage system for tanks
Graphical representation of bullet\shell damage on active vehicles
Ragdoll effect
Ironsights
Restrictions: Realistic use of prone-only weapons like HMGs, restriction on exiting vehicles by blocking
Improved graphics
Artillery Ground damage representation (Hope it would have been a brownish smudge though)
FH custom effects, tank and rifle smoke after firing, top hatch, canopy animation for all planes, shell ejection, 3rd person clip change
Alternate fire in planes
Tracers (Except for FHSW)
Realistic damage from high explosive airplane cannon
Level detail resulting in more engaging gameplay (North Africa in FH2 is comparable to Normandy in FH1)
Cool damage animation and explosion - Save for grenades and lack of shrapnel flying
Physical evidence of richochets
More thoroughly done, painstaken level detail, weapon and vehicle handling and combat engine including weapon handling, sound and use
Difference between cover and Concealment
Suppression
Extensive command function
Accuracy and frequency of AI strafing runs and bombing runs
Bots don't have 360 degree vision
Squads
No Bot idling
Bots detect sound as well as sight to determine targets
Destructables
Realisitc AA destruction
Radically improved sound effects and bitrate
Massive maps
Spread maps with better scale and battlefield layout
Deployables can be placed literally anywhere
Way better graphics - Objects look alot more solid
Better infantry system
Better tank system regarding better hit area and salvo type, smoke shields, map layout etc

Cons
Same dumb voice overs and especially, death cries
AI cannot fire artillery
Weird tank motion, single shot talk-killing and AI behavior,
Graphical restrictive specs of engine
Lack of portability of game - It was easy to just copy FH1 for COOP, FH2 requires reinstall
Poor hit detection
Planes using jet tech
Instant blowup at destruction
Stuka AI
No distant sound variant, meaning no immersion into battlefield sound
Bots STILL cannot fire mortar
Bots cannot fire any form of artillery
Bots don't camp at all, meaning no neccesary static denfeses
No random for helmets, faces or uniform
Unrealistic Bot tanking
secondary blowup
Limited time for destroyed vehicles to last as cover before they kill infantry too close with secondary blowup
Slow learning rate and\or slower mod rate using BF2 engine
About 25 maps, most of which are North Africa
4 armies rather than FH1s 9 or even 10
limited weapons
Even more limited number of aircrafts
Fairly limted tank count and vehicles
No naval war
No air war
Flying sucks

You decide which game is better in the end

I've spent so many hours with FH1, I had dug over every inch of every map twice during those years. So we had 60 official maps and whatever map came up, I was like: "Oh, it's that map again?". And I was never very happy with the majority of custom maps, rather desiring professional, bleed focussed, unmodded, historically accurate maps with long spawn delays. When the players moved on to other servers with modded maps and short spawn delays I was off. Otherwise I might still be playing.

I usually imagine my own sounds with it, like `tjunk, tupdieyupdiedee` aaa enemy spotted, ratatatataboom
