I just finished writing a 27 page research paper, and now I'm down with the school semester.  Now I have a couple days to kick back and do nothing until I turn 21 on Wednesday, and then I'm off to France to study abroad next semester.   ;D

What's the paper about?

Say hi to officer Crabtree if you'd happen to see him.

It was about British foreign policy in the Russian Civil War.

If I'm ever in Belgium I'll have to buy you a beer for that one time you helped me out with my French homework.

A very interesting subject. I can't imagine the British really being for the Commies because they killed cousin Nick 2.

Aw, never mind that. It's my pleasure.

And I hardly practice my French as much as I'd like, anyway.

Wow, things moved fast in the last two weeks.

After I graduated from university with a B.A. in October I was looking for a job. After a bunch of job interviews and loads of applications and denials, last week I got a job offer around 2 hours after the interview. Seems like they really wanted me.
Today I signed the employment contract and from 01. January 15 I´ll start working and also have my own appartment for rent in a new town. Exciting times lie ahead!

Thanks guys. I´m quite happy that after three months of standstill my life finally moves on again. What´s even better, I´m finally moving out of my old village again, back into a nice town.

Brave of you to venture over the Tamar like that.  Make sure you get out and enjoy the countryside.

Also, I'm happy because I can finally get back onto the forums.

So, on Tuesday my computer failed to power up - drives and fans were spinning, but no power to USB, no POST beeps, black screen. And it was a while since the last backup. Panic.

Quick googling told me that the PSU is the most common reason for such problems and it rarely takes the hard drives with it. Yesterday I installed a new PSU and everything was fine again: no other component seems to be broken, and most importantly, no apparent data loss either, the HDD worked without problems. First thing to do was of course to run a new backup nevertheless.

Thank the Maker that nowadays even ready-made PC's use standard components that you can easily replace yourself. As long as you have a tabletop model, that is, and that is why I'll never buy a laptop myself.

Last year I had the exact same issue. PSU took the harddrive with it, to be honest the bummer was that the harddrive was gone. It was a laptop, got replaced from MSI and no problems since then. I'm planning to install an SSD nowadays.

Today the ISP technician rang my door bell, activated my internet acces and after being without internet for almost two months (except for the occasional hour at my GFs place every odd weekend), I´m finally back online!

My desktop PC wasn´t connected to the internet for this time and has to download a gazillion updates, but finally I can live like a civilised human being again!

You mean in front of your PC with your eyes glued to the screen and the curtains closed? ;)

Well obviously, what else ;D? Addiction to information is real yo. Only when you lose access to the internet you realise how much you need to know what weather is like in Paris, what's the life cycle of a wasp, and how do you say "thermodynamics" in Dutch.

Or maybe that's just me.
