Hello and welcome to the FH2:Zombies minimod release thread!
The goal of this mod was to allow you to have fun killing, and being killed by zombies,
and I hope you enjoy it; here is a short rundown of the mod.

I have a server up for the mod 24/7

NOTE: CURRENT BUILD IS NOT BUILT FOR PVP only PVE

To play alone start a local server, set the max players to 1, and the bots to your desired level

Maps

Anctoville 16
Type - Survival
Special notes - The church can not be recapped by the zombies once the
survivors cap it.
Vehicles - M3 Grant
Victory - Killing 1500 zombies

Brest 64
Type - Assault
Special notes - Push, and zombies can not recap the flags.
Vehicles - Jeep W/.50,M4a1(76),M4a1(75),M5
Victory - Capping the Harbor flag

Crete 64
Type - Escape
Special notes - stay out of the grayed area on the minimap as it is out of bounds for the survivor team.
Vehicle - Ju52
Victory - Capping the escape flag

Lebisey 16
Type - Assault
Special notes - Push, and Zombies can not retake flags.
Vehicles - M3 Grant
Victory - Capping Lebisey HQ flag

Goodwood 16
Type - Survival
Vehicles - None
Special notes -  None
Victory - Killing 1500 zombies

Totalize 64
Type - Escape
Vehicles - Train
Special notes - Stay out of the gray area on the minimap, you can only move on the train tracks.
Victory - Capping the escape flag

Port en Bessin 16
Type - Survival
Vehicles - None
Special notes - Flag closest to survivor main can not be recapped by zombies
Victory - Killing 1500 zombies

Ramelle 64
Type - Assault
Vehicles - Tiger  M3 Grant
Special notes - Adjusted pushmode, All of flags are required to cap the final flag.
Victory - Capping Zombie reinforcements flag

Wake Island 64 (FH2 Conversion originally by Mr Ben)(AI by WCCP)
Type - Assault
Vehicles - P47 W/Rockets,P51 W/Bombs,C47,M2a1,M3 Grant
Special notes - Push; Rifleman and ammo kits have Parachutes, you will need them.
Victory - Capping the Northern Village flag


Each mode is meant to be a little different from the others and each have a different "Backstory"
Survival - You and a few other squads are holding out in an area with a relativly light zombie population
Escape - You and your squad are the last ones left in an area completely over run you must escape the area to somewhere safer if you wish to live
Assault - You and many other squads are assaulting areas held by zombies, in an attempt to make a safe zone for civilians

There are also a few changes to the vehicles
The M3 Grant is Olive drab and has a Flamethrower turret.
Tiger has a special "Anubis" skin.

There are also a few kit and weapon tweaks here and there that I will let you find out on your own.
As well as a few easter eggs spread around somewhere.

Installation is simple.  Place the folder in your Mods folder and make a desktop shortcut ( to make a shortcut copy the BF2 shortcut(not the fh2 one)
and add  +modPath mods/FH2Zombie to the target box(see picture)
After you make the Desktop shortcut there is an .ico in the Mod folder for you to use so you can tell the difference between FH2 and FH2 Zombies.

If you get a bug with the tanktracks, do the following

Remove the files-directories in /my documents/battlefield 2/cache and /my documents/battlefield 2/mods/bf2/cache and /my documents/battlefield 2/mods/fh2/cache. Tip: The FHToolbox has a tool to do this for you!

I personally am alot happier with this version than the version I released for 2.26, I just feel this one is higher quality and alot less rushed.

Keep on working nice job, its worth downloading and playing

If the tank tracks are disappearing you may be having shader issues, the only time i've had that happen is when I installed BGF and FH2 tracks were borked, as were camo nets.

I think you need a forum because, your mini-mod have potential and it will be nice if people can help you with bug and suggestion. I know, not many people play it, but if we improve it, I'm pretty sure people will play it.

Find something:
Crete and Totalize have series of digits in their EnvMaps.
The 'EnvMap25.dds' in Crete is still a daylight version.
German Rifleman Assualt Kit in Goodwood shows a G43 in spawn menu but spawns with a M30 Drilling

Yeah like the ammo kit with american. It's a no4 but we have a enfield p17. I think it's not a bug, but a lack of design for the menu kit :)

Drilling has a G43 Icon because the drilling doesnt have a menu icon, and I haven't gotten around to making one.
Same with the american ammo kit and the E1917 with no4 icon

Since COOP is so big nowadays, this mini-mod is a great addition, would be cool to see you guys integrated into the bigger FH2 picture though.

Problem with Crete: you have to wait ages to cap the last flag + the waiting time of the Ju. When the Ju spawms its hard to fly which this timepressur and to land.


rest is cool, Wake is funy with the howitzer on the flightdeck and the planes

I'm pretty sure we didn't disable the tank aiming scope. Maybe you need to reconfig your controls or something.

If you mean bf2 style crosshairs, FH2 just doesn't have them for tanks (I think)..

Equipment-wise I think it would be nice if there were a more weapons to choose from, especially ones like FG42 and STG44 that you don't usually have the chance to use in the original mod.

It's a great idea to put the M30 drilling in a kit, although I think the kit is a bit weak compared to other ones. A single-shot rifle and a two-shot shotgun without pistols or any kind of explosives/especial equipment is not the best kit to use in zombie survival.  ::)

Lupin already mentioned crete so I'll talk to you about the tank tracks

Bravo(randomnumbershere) was having issues with it last night, I had him delete the folder inside of cache and completely delete all of the folders in mods(Docs/Battlefield 2/mods), then I had him launch via the FH2 Icon and switch via the community tab, this seemed to have fixed it for him.   So let me know if it works for you too.  


@ Alakazou the only tank that shouldn't have a crosshair is the Easteregg tank, and honestly with that one you don't need one to blow everything up.

I'll mention this to him ASAP. He probably had another power outage.

Equipment-wise I think it would be nice if there were a more weapons to choose from, especially ones like FG42 and STG44 that you don't usually have the chance to use in the original mod.

We had a map like that in the old version. German DAK vs zombies. Fall of Tobruk or something.

I don't know why Havocide didn't include it in this version.. Maybe we could release a small patch or something.

Only thing I hated is that I can't shoot while reloading the Winchester, got me in some tight situations. But I know this is a lame BF2 thing  :P

This mod is addicting, i like this a lot  ;D

My only suggestion for the mod is to have more variety of kits. Or dare to modify them a bit (e.g. more kits with SMG or more kits with grenades/traps, etc)

so I played yesterday too some maps, till ramelle came then I left.
was really epic, espesially the slaughting on the wake island bridge.

some suggestions (which might be a little complicate to do)
1) BAR with bipod but without the "accurate" iron sight: short: Tripod + prone + high rof +normal ironsights
2)I want this (http://www.jlrhoades.com/WWII_BookShelt/jpg_files/50.Cal.jpg)

I donno if we will see it in the normal game but it would be cool to see it here.

3) Pls Pls make something many ppl want to see in pure FH2 but they wont see. The abbilty to choose 2 weapons for every kit.
Like: As mg gunner: BAR/ Fg42.    Aussault. Sten / Stg 44   Shotgun/Drilling

I think ppl would LOVE this.

The mod is really cool, well done, funny, and addicting. Keep working on it !!!

I've passed on some of your suggestions to Havick already.

On the map i'm currently working on there will be Stg44s, 30cal tripods, fg42s ect.

Also, a fix will be included in the next patch which stops Zombies running away from grenades.

Just tried this out with 2-6 other people. Mod is great, but I can see myself getting bored quite fast with most of maps. Crete was really awesome tough.

Battle of Breast was a hard one. Not so easy to get the last flag, but with the result of 2-0 we won!

I would suggest to make capture zones smaller. So that people can keep it clear just by shooting zombies. Now we are forced to lure them away from flag zone and other people try to capture meanwhile.

I understand you point, but i thing baiting the zombies away is quite cool and fun. Loads of Zombie films include heros baiting the zombies away for the greater good! :D

Just had a little playsession with FH2_Hi, Combatwombat IIRC, Musttii and a fourth guy. One word describes it:

For the maps, make sure it is set to coop mode, also

I also have NAT negotation on due to being behind a router, If you are behind a router, make sure that the ports are forwarded and that you have NAT negotation on

I also keep team balance off and keep the team ratio very high.

Also if you want more than 48 bots, you will likely have to edit your AIdefaults.ai file
Set overrides menu to 1 instead of 0 and set your number of bots

A little late, but the bar will be easy to implement. 

I'm not sure about the .50 cal tripod, I'll have to see where it rates on the to do list.. being that It would have to be made from scratch. (truthfully I've always wanted one in FH2)

As for the multikit, The problem is, as it is currently the dual select kit is done in python, and is a pretty complex peice of python in and of its self, at my current level I can not hope to make a similar system for all of the classes, however If you know someone who could write such a peice of code, send them my way, I'd be willing to pay for it.

I have brought up a server, but players always get always disconnected when joining.

Are there special settings for the server or the maplist?


For the maps, make sure it is set to coop mode, also

I also have NAT negotation on due to being behind a router, If you are behind a router, make sure that the ports are forwarded and that you have NAT negotation on

I also keep team balance off and keep the team ratio very high.

Also if you want more than 48 bots, you will likely have to edit your AIdefaults.ai file
Set overrides menu to 1 instead of 0 and set your number of bots

Just played round on Ramelle. Last flag is impossible to capture. Cap zone is HUGE and all zombie spawn are inside that zone.

You could register with some "free service monitoring" site and let it check the tcp port of your bf2 server. They check it every x minutes and send mails or even sms in case of a service failure.

Oh yeah, and the feelings Belle has for Edward are real! She was not glimmered like haters say she was!  And there is an eternal struggle in the Vampire houses just like Twilight says so FU Fuchs! It's based on a real story you morans, it says so in the end credits.

I've discussed the mod a couple times with Havick and according to him there are several changes that basically require the mod to be re-built on the new framework. I've considered taking up the task of remaking it because God knows I've done it enough times for my Dwarf Fortress mods every time a new version comes out, but since my code hasn't been in used in the zombie mod since like.. the second version, I would have to manually find all of the changes Havicks done.

The primary reason why Havick hasn't converted the mod to the latest version himself is because he was anticipating the inclusion of the Russian forces so we could make Russian zombies. That and the lack of AI mapping for well.. nearly all of the new maps. We really wanted to do Hurtgen Forest, and make it a night map but with no AI, there's no point.

However, I don't even have the most recent dev build so there's really nothing I could do even if I did decide hunker down and rebuild the whole thing. ;)

Yeah I removed the swastika immediately after the guy mentioned it, but the original picture was quoted by him and there's literally nothing I can do about it.

Not yet. But who knows. Technically you -can- switch to the zombie team and punch people, but there's no official support for that.

Yeah, we're definitely planning on remaking Crete. I've also been thinking up some new game modes.

One of them that I thought up is a "convoy escort" mission, where all you have at the beginning are 3 or so (very slow) spawn vehicles, and you have to escort them to the only flag on the map to win. This could be accomplished with clever use of out of bounds lines. I was also planning on adding destroyable roadblocks in the middle of the path that you would have to get rid of while keeping the zombies off your vehicles.

I think this mode would appear on "Crete day 1" with day 2 being the ju-52 escape.

I would like to give this a try =) Any idea when could 2.45 compatibile version be avalible? =)

Not for a while. I can't even really guess a date as we haven't started coding yet. Could be a month, could be months.

It is really nice to see that this mini mod gets a revive, it was always fun to play on LANs or on days without proper FH servers. I'm looking forward to this, even if it takes years.

No releasable screenshots right now, but I've pretty much completed the code framework for the next version of the mod. What needs to be done next is for havick to redo the projectile code, and for the maps to be converted/remade/etc. Personally, I've got some big plans for Escape from Crete, and if I can manage to learn the map editor I'm going to give it a real visual makeover.

I also finished making a completely new set of zombie skins, and I think you guys will really like them. ;)

Yeah, there's nothing preventing a player from switching to the zombie side. The mod isn't designed for it, but one or two player zombies won't hurt much.

I've been considering adding a limited-spawn "special" zombie, which I'm sure will be a player favorite if I get it coded right. ;)

It was actually the opposite, lol.

Basically I coded the very very first internal version, as a proof of concept. Then Havick completely reworked it into what became the public release.

As development went on, I became more of the "ideas" guy.

So Havick deserves most of the credit for the last release.  ;D

We'll see a Russian survivors vs zombies map. They won't have the right weapons though since I can't model.

If you can/want/etc. you should add lots of various pickup kits, at least thats what I felt Zombies were missing, Drum mag M1928's, STG's  and maybe even some custom one's . Personally I'd love to see pure pistol kits, with one pistol from the game(Luger,1911, commando Hi-power etc.), shit ton of magazines(like 10 or even more) and maybe petrol bombs. Unless of course that would be too much work :D ,I guess there are more important things to do.

Yeah, I really want to spice things up a bit in this version. Making kits is easy enough, but I can't really map/place new kits at the moment because I don't have enough free space to extract all the bf2/fh2 zips.

Manually editing that tmp.con every time I add a kit is pretty aggravating too.

Is this project still alive? Long time no news. If it is, I'd like to suggest something:

Escape - You and your squad are the last ones left in an area completely over run you must escape the area to somewhere safer if you wish to live

if you are willing to make Russia maps, I'd suggest you make a map called "Escape from Stalingrad" where some German army survivors are trying to reach to an airfield to escape from the city which fell to the zombies, Stalingrad. It will basically be like the airfield escape scene from the movie "stalingrad" but with zombies.  :) The Germans could have transport vehicles, and maybe a few light armoured vehicles, and they'll try to get to the airfield where are 2 ju52's located to make their escape. But zombies (both russian and german) will be needed to kill all along tho the long route to the airfield. What do you say? I think it would be awesome!  :)

Sorry for the lack of news guys. I had a bunch of work, and I was working on FH2 zombies pretty much every hour of my free time for a while, but I got severely burnt out and I've been kind of.. avoiding it.

The framework is pretty much 100% done. All that's really left is changing/editing the maps and well.. I hate doing that. I also don't have enough HD space to edit the maps in the bf2 map editor, and havocide refuses to do it (even when I offered to buy him some wot gold or something).

I worked really hard on Halloween and the day before, to get a release out but there was just no way. Right now, I'm aiming for Christmas. I'll probably release whatever I have then, and patch it later or something.

Things that have changed:
I've cut the flashlights out for the time being, although they might be added in the release.

Eppeldorf is no longer Russian, but a mixed faction map where you all start with pistols and have to find kits.

The flags. But for some reason my edited flags don't show up in game.

Keren is done (I think).
Brest is done.
Escape from Crete was just transferred from the last version.
Crete day 1 needs to be made in an editor.
El Al 16 is done, 64 needs tweaking I think.
Wake needs to be reworked.
PDH is almost done.
Hurtgen forest needs some more work, and it's not night time.

Of course, none of these maps have any editing outside of the con files, due to my inability.

There will be more maps in the release probably.

There might be a beta tomorrow, I don't know. I've gotta wrap up some annoying problems like ticket bleed, zombies cuddling in the flag zones, etc.

The map list right now is:

Escape from crete, the classic. Early war german/brit.
Vossenack. Russians. Western counterparts of Soviet weapons.
Brest. German survivors defending.
Keren, brits with a full compliment of equipment attacking zombies.
El al 64, Italians attacking zombies with a full compliment of equipment, but each vehicle only gets 1 spawn.
El al 16, Italians defending/attacking with only a sdkfz 234.
Eppeldorf. Spawn with pistols only. Random kits tossed everywhere. Assaulting map to make it extra hard.


Maybe:
Hurtgen forest
PDH
Wake island

Me and Havocide have been talking about renting a server. The problem is that I only have about $5 to my name right now and can't pay for it.

So things are a bit complicated.

People might just have to do lan over tuungle for the first release.

Is FH2 Zombies cosidered as a map-pack with zombie models and AI OR as a mini-mod?

Mini mod. You need to use a separate icon to launch it.

And there's a bunch of graphics and coding assets etc.

I was converting Operation Goodwood and was about to fix some minor problems with it when the folder literally vanished without a trace.

Needless to say I rage quit from modding for the day.

Yeah, I did some work on Goodwood, and set up the frame work for Ancto.

Unfortunately, I forgot to swap the team numbers in Ancto so there's a massive Brit swarm and no zombies lol.

I think I'm going to release soon (tomorrow). There might be some minor bugs, and it's lacking a bit of polish (I can't change mini-map icons for some reason..), but I feel bad because you've all been so patient and I keep slacking because I don't like working on the maps :P

The mod is very playable at the moment and should be fun enough as is.

When I release, I will request that this thread be locked, because I'm going to make a new one.

Right now there's 8 maps.

Anctoville 16 and 64
Brest 64
Keren 64
Escape from Crete
El Al 16 and 64
Eppeldorf 64
Goodwood 64 (thought fh2 had a 16p version..)
Vossenack 64

The maps are a bit bigger this time around, but that just allows a bit more free roaming.

To be honest, a lot of the maps have a stock selection of equipment, and I'm sorry about that. I'll eventually release a map pack/patch with all the other FH2 maps and try to spice things up a bit. But for now, at least there's lots of zombies.  ;)

Also, :| Hi I'm pretty sure I animated that tank gif in your avatar years ago lol. It's always funny seeing my old metal slug sprites.  ;D

Haha, well its fine work!  The forum sizing doesn't do the full sized one justice at all. Would really like to learn how to make/animate pixel artwork in the Metal Slug style
