Bug Reporting / Re: Error on launch of the game

Sounds like something got borked in your environment. Maybe try reinstalling / updating your version of .Net framework, not sure which version is required for the launcher though?

Yeah, that will have to wait because in my experience it takes some time to let the computer sit while it does the reinstall.  It's strange, one day it played just fine.  Two days later, this error pops up.  Gotta love computers, lol

Hi, I posted your question to Discord, because there are more people frequenting that nowadays. I personally don't know how to solve this, but over there we have plenty of tech savvy people being able to help you out. If you want, you can also join the Discord server and get your answer to this, or any other question you may have. Here is the link: https://discord.gg/hU878P4 See you there hopefully!

Thank you for replying so quick!  Life is a bit crazy now but when i get a minute I'll get set up over there and follow the topic.  I've known IT guys who have helped me diagnose printing and related issues, and they can read errors and code like that like it's nothing.  I imagine the right person in this community would have a good idea what the problem is in the same mindset.  Take care!

Attached is a picture of the error - I'm not well versed in what all this means.  Any one with more experience have any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

Finally downloaded and just started playing these maps; had one CTD I can't explain, but overall they look good and the effort to make them single player compatible is much appreciated!!

General Discussion / Re: Forgotten Hope 2.26 feedback

Well I should put in my $0.02 as of now.  I downloaded the update a few days ago.  I cannot complain about the ridiculous download time, because that is a problem with the internet in the area I live... it just plain sucks no matter what company we use, and also because no one will run a broadband line out here yet... small town.

I will say it honestly took a little less than 10 minutes to install the patch.  I have a custom built computer with a Intel Q6600 Quad core, Nvidia 512 MB graphics card, 2GB gaming ram and some other odds and ends I cannot remember.  When the game does not encounter a bug, it plays silky smooth.

I am still extremely impressed with the detail of this mod.  The developers have done wonders with the core BF2 engine, which was pretty good but nothing next to FH2.  I had previously thought Port en Bessin was going to be a SP capable map, but I guess it isn't?

I played for about 30 minutes on two maps; Purple Heart Lane and Gazala.  My schedule kind of limits how much I can play.  Both maps were extremely detailed and played really smooth.  The AI on both sides seemed to be pretty good too, as my guys (I usually play as Allies) worked in groups and the enemy put up a good fight.

I only had one issue with Purple Heart Lane.  As I was playing, it was almost constantly displaying "teamSPs Error when dealing with orchard axis X" (substitute 1, 2, 3, 4, etc for X) up in the top left where it displays who killed who.  I am not sure what causes this, but it did not seem to have an affect game play.

All and all, I think this release is the best yet.  So far, it is one of the most realistic WW2 FPS games I have played.   And I will definitely keep playing other maps to see how they run.

Thanks.

Been away from the forum/mod a while.  Sad to come back to hear this.  Rest in peace, friend; your work here is done.

No I have not tried FH1.  Is it on the same level, a total revamp of BF1942?  I have a crummy connection right now, so it is tough to download too much.  I also was getting frustrated with the choppyness of BF1942 and the struggle to get the updates right.  The BF2 platform seems to be a lot smoother, at least from my point of view and what I know.

I think it would be fun to play as either side.  The one in BF1942 was just okay.  With all the realistic detail the Developers have loaded into the maps so far, Omaha is sure to be a hit.

Aha, that makes sense.  I am sorry I do enjoy gaming but I do not know a whole lot about them.

I am looking forward to an Omaha style map for this game.  If it continues with the quality so far, it is going to be an insanely great map to play.  (Yes I am fascinated by D-Day)

...Also, I had a problem at first when the game crashed randomly.  I did some Googling and found out that there are several shader files that are switched from BF2 to FH2, and then back again when you close.  If it is not closed properly this operation is screwed up.  I believe this is only a result of the game being a MOD, correct? It would be kick-butt to see this as a full stand-alone game!...
In 2.2 Singleplayer, Op. Aberdeen, Goodwood, Hyacinth and Supercharge, all CTD at some point...haven't tried any 2.25 SP maps yet, but apparently Goodwood still has a CTD issue.

The shader thing is due to FH having it's own .exe file (most other mods don't). As long as you start the game using the desktop shortcut and close it using the ingame QUIT button (NOT Alt+F4) you'll be right.

If you don't close it properly the shader files don't get put back where they should be.

And it effectively is a stand-alone game considering the only thing it has in common with vanilla BF2 is the game engine... :)

I understand what you say about the shaders.  It makes sense.

What I meant by the stand alone, is if we could buy it by itself complete, but I do understand it is always evolving and getting better.

What do you mean?

There are medics on FH2, pickup kits.

Fair enough, I must not have found em! :)

That would make sense... or NCO?  Most squads would require leadership...?

Is there no plans for medics for FH2?

Singleplayer and Coop / Very impressed with this game!

I downloaded this about a month ago, version 2.2, and am currently as I type this downloading 2.25.

Working two jobs and doing a lot of side work do not allow me to play it too much.  I was pretty pleased with the original BF2 overall game play, and I really liked the WW2 setting of BF1942.  I found this mod, which combined them both.

So far, I am very impressed with every aspect of game play.  I can tell countless hours was spent on shaping the mod.  The vehicles are excellent from the operation to the look, and the weapons carried by infantry are clearly well crafted.

I have a pretty iffy internet connection where I live, but there is rumor of broadband coming our way.  So hopefully some day I can play online.  I built a computer for the family to share, but I also built it to game.  So all that is left is getting online, because while it is fun single player, it would be much more fun multiplayer.

I only have a few small issues with the game.  One of which is realism of objects, such as tables and chairs, debris, etc.  Just about all items do not move.  Such as if I run into something small with a tank, it causes damage to the tank.  Same with gates and doors.  However, I observed these with original BF2 and I think it is how the game engine is setup to run.  Also, I had a problem at first when the game crashed randomly.  I did some Googling and found out that there are several shader files that are switched from BF2 to FH2, and then back again when you close.  If it is not closed properly this operation is screwed up.  I believe this is only a result of the game being a MOD, correct?  It would be kick-butt to see this as a full stand-alone game!

So thank you so much to everyone involved with the production of this mod.  It really shows how much effort and attention to detail was put into it.
