Greek Army
« on: 10-01-2010, 12:01:22 »
First of all hello to all of you guys who do all this awesome job with this mod.Its been a delight so far and i believe it will be for years to come.So a big thank you for providing us with such and awesome mod.

now on to the topic:

I know you are tired from all these months work on releasing the new patch but i felt i really had to ask such a thing.Greek maps with no Greeks? In my opinion it would be awesome to have Greek battles up in the snowy mountains of epirus at 1940 but your maps are also awesome but thats the main problem they lack Greeks. If you dont want to create the whole army at least create a spawn kit on the Greek related maps which has the Mannlicher-Schonauer 6.5mm M1903/14 Rifle and this uniform(far left guy) :

http://ww2greece.wargaming.info/uniforms.htm

Also there is a Greek created SMG : EPK (Pyrkal) Sub-Machine gun.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EPK_(Pyrkal)_Machine_gun

If you want to create the whole army though i have more weapons vehicles and planes...but i would be satisfied just with a spawn kit.
Thats all i had to suggest. Please answer me if you have the time ;)

Hi and welcome to our forums Bouras!

Yeah we know about Greek Army and believe me when I say this that we'd just love to have as many armies as possible in FH2 to bring out the always forgotten participants of the second world war but we have two BIG problems which always stops us on our tracks and these are:

1) Voices. As you've noticed, FH2 uses the BF42/FH0.7 voice sets which unfortunately does not include the greece voices. This is a huge stopper since a nation is nothing without their own voices. Unless we get someone who can provide good quality voices for the greeks, then theres no future. :(

2) Player models. They are always the most time consuming and hardest bit when theres need for new army. This is why we dont have Airborne, Fallschrimjägers, Gebirgsjägers and such just yet. Hopefully we'll get them later. :)

But its always a nice suggestion and while theres not much to say to it, I just wish you welcome to our forums and fair community.

Thanks for the welcome :D and for the quick answer. Ok voices aint that hard i can get some Greeks and if they hear about FH2 they will probably love voicing. Now i know that player models can really be a pain in the ... well you know better than i do i guess but i hope you put some work on Greeks. Thanks again.

Well how the development is right now, I doubt there are any intentions to make the greeks since theres a lot more pressing matters and future plans are already made, so at least for now theres quite slim chances to see them ingame. Maybe, just maybe. :)

As for the Greek SMG, only 10 to 15 were produced  ::)
So it would be wrong, adding it.
It would be better to add the Johnson LMG.

Most of the info needed is in this site: http://ww2greece.wargaming.info/

Something cool to read too: http://www.nowpublic.com/politics/heroes-world-war-ii-greek-victory-over-fascist-italy

Ow and btw...Italy was Forced 6(not quite sure more or less?) kms back to albania in reality till germans poked their nose...They were so afraid of us that when some Greek prisoners (prisoners to the Germans that is) started screamin "Aera" (something like charge) all italians around headed for cover.Greek army had the best training for his resources since every shot had to count. They were so good that comander Dietrich thought he was facing three divisions when facing 400 men at one particular battle.Anyway dont get carried away.

So did the WWII Sacred Band like the ancient sacred band? That being they worked, practiced, fought and had sex in pairs?
It's half naked people on boats. That's all.
Here in Finland we call that "summer".

Hence we will not say that Greeks fight like heroes, but that heroes fight like Greeks.

But really though I'm always for armies like this to be portrayed.

But still were defeated and occupied by germans, italians and bulgarians after Nazi Germany intervention lets leave it at that. Although they did form a cool resistence movement.

A map set during the Italian invasion of Greece would make me happier than the father of a new-born child.
