I was just wondering what do you people use for VOIP chatting in games/online stuff.
specially regarding software like Teamspeak, Mumble & Ventrillo etc. but also the ingame VOIP of games like BF2, HL2, Red Orchestra etc ...

if you want you can give some reasons in the comments.

I am a push-to-talk guy
i use the mouse wheel button for TS(mumble) and the left-alt key for ingamevoice chat.
i mostly do this for the obvious reasons, less chatter on the channels, and only what i want gets transmitted. not ringing of telephone, passing trucks on nearby street or the screaming (my and his) when my cat startles me while i m playing left 4 dead.

also it is easier to configure, no problems with having loud music running in the back or other soundloop problems.

of course the response time suffers a little, always reaching for the button to do say something obviously takes some time but i prefer it this way.

Used to use voice activation, but it was a bitch when I'd cough or sneeze or something, so I switched to push to talk.

I use voice activation for TS local channel chat (but I do pay attention to configure it right, so no unnecessary sounds can be heard, also if there is something really lod around me, I have shortcut alt+Q muting my mic in TS), middle mouse button for tournament specific over-channel chat and 'B" key for ingame VOIP.

Voted for Voice activation.

You don't make a fool of yourself in push-to-talk when you sing random songs ingame like me.

Push to talk with Ventrilo. Atleast I did that until yesterday. My mic works but it wont work in Vent  :-X

Push-to-talk, no matter what program. TS2, Mumble, Ventrilo - all push-to-talk. BF2 VOIP doesnt work for me at all.

I've heard Toddel what he did there.

Push to talk, always.

Push to talk is just the way to go.
No bothering sighs, no heavy breathing... no coughing and hence no bird/pig/tami-flu. ^^

The only problem that can occur is when the PtT grows on you and you accidentally press the button while being on the phone. ^^

Push to talk as it obviously prevents accidental or unwanted broadcastings.  I use my left alt key.

It can be annoying though when you are doing a ton of things (ea a hectic situations where you are rapidly pressing buttons and moving your mouse around such as in a close combat firefight)  or when you forgot to press they key and start talking...

Oh yes, the keys people use, thats quite funny sometimes. Some people use Shift so when they run in FH2 you hear them breathing  ;D I use the middle mouse button, the one you scroll with.

I often have to talk while playing (phone and/or other people in the house), so I can't do voice activation

so push to talk bound to middle mouse button (used to be "Q" in FH1)

Tehe, funny. I use PTT when offgame, chatting with friends, ingame I always set my voice activation high enough so no breathing, typing sounds or whatsoever are transmitted. And I don't sneeze/snore all the time, I guess all of you guys have the piggripp... erm pigflu....
