Suggestion for heavy machineguns
« on: 28-04-2011, 21:04:43 »
I'll start by saying that it is annoying to jump on the ground if you want to shoot with heavy machine gun. There is always something on your way for example walls, trees, grass or vehicles.

I suggest that you can place the machine guns the windows or on the sandbags. (Yes, Day of Defeat style) Don't say that gun become too good for skilled players. Heavy machine guns have 50 bullets per magazine if I remember currectly. You reload gun slowly and you will possible be shot.

This would make heavy machine guns more dangerous on the open field and would also make it more useful.

Tell me what do you think. Do you like it, do you hate it or someone have allready suggested this idea. Try think about this twice if you hate it.

Already suggested numerous times. Not possible in the true sense on this engine. Please use the search button next time.

It is not possible to perform

It is possible but it requires years of work as all statics have to be remade
-i am fairly sure that if they took porn off the internet, there would only be one website left and it would be called bring back the porn "Perry cox, Scrubs.

This MIGHT work but it would take YEARS!!!!

There are "enter-able" spots on windows and sand bags but they are invisible and the mg only appears when someone is using it

It is only enter-able by MG-gunners and if anyone else trys to do it wont do jack s***

Warrior, no offense, but you really need to know a bit about the Refractor 2 engine before you can start saying what is and isn't possible. I mean, maybe you do have some knowledge on the engine, and please feel free to correct me if you do, which then in that case I apologize.

If I remember correctly Devilman proved it it CAN be done... Although I don't know if it works with multiplayer... You guys didn't like it as you thought it's not "perfect" (as in people would be able to deploy MGs everywhere and that would lead to some weird clipping effects and bug abusing)
This sentence is intentionally left unfinished...

Well, if they could use the same method PR used for hip firing an MG / deployed position. Lot less accuracy and more kick on former and latter is very accurate but reduces the turning rate. and it would still take a moment to aim the MG.

Actually, you currently can place all tripod weapons to aim over windows and sandbags.  The lafette is best at this cuz you can adjust the height.

That said, you're talking about BIPOD light MGs.  These cannot be placed on sandbags/windows for the afforementioned issues of the BF2 engine.  As for the PR solutions, they are highly unrealistic (IE, the idea that a deployed MG turns slow and such).  The dev team however HAS made it so that hip fireable MGs (bren and bar) have deployed and undeployed modes that offer accuracy advantages for each.

Perfection normally takes more than just a few minutes to achieve
First you make it,then you make it better

And it does work online

Yes, however, the problem there was that you couldn't have two separate animations be played. If you deployed it on the ground, then you'd clip through the ground, cause the animation files would be setup for deploying on windows.

How about we leave the current "ground placing animation" and add another deployed option for deploying it on windows... The only problem is how to prevent people from using the "window" animation on the ground...
