Frequent crashing
« on: 03-10-2009, 16:10:24 »
FH2 is unplayable for me, because of constant crashing. i'm able to play 0-10 minutes until it crashes. it does so on every map i've tried so far. i'm just running around for a while until it happens.

there might be some minor lag-like performance issues before the crash, but i'm not sure if it's just plain lag.

BF2 works perfectly, and some previous version (don't remember wich one, it's been a while since i played FH last time) of FH worked too.

i'm using Vista 64-bit, and i run the game as an admin.

some PC-specs: AMD X2 6000+, NVIDIA 8800GT, 3GB RAM, SB X-Fi Music

help appreciated, thanks.

edit: and i can't do error report, cos when i try, it says something like this; "fh2crash.exe was closed abnormally"

Have you checked with the FH2 Help thread on things that apply for Vista 64bit?

Singleplayer?

no, multiplayer. haven't tried singleplayer yet.

if you mean that "Common Problems & Solutions"-thread, yes, and no help found. game remains unplayable :/

updated the SB X-Fi Music soundcard to PC specs, if it's any help.

What programs are you running in the background and in what compatibility modus are you starting FH2?

Check your memory consumption. If your PC starts paging this will lead to crashing.

you could try running the game in windowed mode
when it than crashes you will most likely get an error msg that may help finding the problem.

to run FH2 in windowed mode you must open the properties of the fh2 link and in the Target field add  +fullscreen 0
Quote
"X:\Battlefield 2\FH2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 0

the  play the game and when it crashes make a screenshot of the error msg and report back.

I keep getting CTD, which is strange because FH2 ran straight for weeks without ever crashing. All this while nothing has changed.

I really dont understand.

The CTD's occur just after a map has been loaded.

I tried to run in windows mode, just as suggested above, but I got no error message. All crashes have been reported using the report-program of FH.
