Sorry I cannot offer any help except to use the full installer instead.

I did get the full installer but wonder about the setup stating "Please ensure you have removed any previous FH2 versions before continuing."

However, I have no uninstaller and do not want to lose the configuration either. So should I just delete the folder "\Battlefield 2\mods\fh2"?

Miller, sorry, can't recommend anything but to restart the launcher. Perhaps, the data got corrupted somewhere between our servers and the launcher.
If that fails, try the way recommended by Laboraffe - the "old way" full installer.

Laboraffe, you may ignore this message. But if you want to be absolutely safe, you can remove the <Your BF2 path>\mods\fh2 folder before running the installer.

Thinking I could try installing overtop and in case of problems could resort to removing the folder and re-installing... I ran the installer again and during a next step it offers to optionally remove the old version anyway so overcomes the problem of not having an uninstaller. I suppose I will let it remove it then since I do have backups/clones if necessary to recover configurations or custom maps.

BTW, setup states it is "HIGLY RECOMMENDED to remove old Forgotten Hope 2 version...". Higly, of course, is even greater than highly.  :P

I have 2.45 version and I can't download 2.46 full because of my internet limit so I downloaded FH2Launcher to update 2.45 to 2.46 but it is trying to download ~4.8Gb. in the launcher description it says "It will start the installation or update your existing build to the latest version."
is there a solution that I download just update no full game?

Hi,

Unfortunately not. Since 2.45, the file structure has changed drastically to support better handling in future updates through the launcher. Therefore a patch between 2.45 and 2.46 is not possible, as it would be as large as the whole version anyways.

Fran the squirrel says "Remove old version!"  ;D

shahram, at least future updates will be minimal with the FH2 Launcher but in the meantime if you cannot get it by sneakernet (i.e. removable media from someone) then a BitTorrent client allows pause and resume over multiple sessions as necessary (of course FTP is capable of resume too but does not appear to be an option). In any case, be sure to verify checksums afterwards to ensure complete files.

Quick question, to remove FH2 2.45, just remove the bf2/mods/fh2 folder?

Yes. To completely remove it, also delete C:/My Documents/Forgottenhp 2
