General Discussion / Re: Show us your FH2/FH1 Videos

Aside the fact that anything with Benny Hill music is funny, I really like how good slowmo looks on FH2. Says a lot about the quality and effort of the mod and it's makers. Especially when that Tiger moves towards the camera, it just looks damn good.

Now, if the Benny Hill lumberyard is from actual WaW game, the fun factor of the video triples instantly. :)

And makes me wonder who the hell came up with a flag area like that!

I don't post much in here, but I do follow the conversation daily and it's nice to have this back online again!

Now only if I'd get myself off BF3's "You win a prize! Play some more!"-gameplay... addicting stuff.

There are not enough kits with Browning HP! Man, I love taking down some infantry with that... SMG's tend to be troublesome, but even they can be sorted with a headshot.

Those maps were very nice as well, but didn't get much press back then AND there was no 126 player server to help get people interested. I tried those as well, we got maybe 10-15 players there, but it was fun. The snowy forest had a feeling of its own, St. Mere was quite nice and that one town map, the one with like a hundred buildings in it, would have been a blast. I think they were all infantry maps with minimal vehicles. Built for some tournament or something?

I think FH2 IS a fast paced FPS. Sure, action is not up on your face all the time like in BFBC2 or COD, but killing sure is fast. Ever seen Daz, me or few others pull 4-5 kills with a rifle in a near same amount of time? Moving is not fast, distances can be very long but once killing starts, lots of enemies can go down FAST.

MG42. You just gotta love the 250 rounds of whoop-ass, non-stop. And it's always nice to stitch that enemy up with a few rounds more than needed, just because it sounds so damn good ;D

Well, 1st run is over after server crashed on La Varde (La Vader if you listen the loading music..)

Impressions:

Operation Dynamo 64p. (Ger vs Brit) Very large map, with 3 flag routes to the beach. Played this first with like 30-35 people. Vast distances and hard to cap flags. Brits seemed to have 3 different spawnpoint choices per flag, giving Axis much trouble contesting one. Lots of 2 pounders and Bofors on every flag. Would have LOVED to see this with 126 players, but I think even 64 is too few players for it.

La Varde 64p(Vader), (US vs Ger). Really funny loading music. Lovely looking map, on the first go we had like under 100 tickets and it was over before we knew it. 2nd time, there was a problem with the map not being in push mode, which caused a lot of back-capping. Crazy commander bombing, funny RC plane somewhere and the MOST detailed bunker complex ever. Conquering the bunkers was a tough ordeal for US. Great fun. All in all very nice looking map, with plenty of details. Great fun until the crash with 60+ players. Oh, and the ducks fucking in the pond... Priceless.

Breakthrough Sedan 64p(Ger vs Brit) Another very big map. Good fights in the towns south of the map and interesting landing/bridge building route in the north for Germans. Lots and lots of planes. I think 2 109s vs Spit, 4 (?) Ju-87s vs Beaufighter. Lots of dead ends for armor in the city of Sedan, places to hide etc. Apparently near endless amount of tanks for Axis (?). The fighting in the South and North sides are so far away from each other, that I'd like to see this map split up and make 2 maps out of this one.

All maps had empty houses without any furniture, strange looking textures here and there, lower water levels than before textures were placed etc etc. Very much WIP, but in a good way. They all had that Idea behind them and it felt much like FH2 does. Especially La Vader is something I'd love to see with next FH2 patch.

They are coming through the floorboards!

Not a good idea.
"there you go, a rifle, if you want something else you must join a squad and listen to whoever happened to click "Create a squad" first. Or you have to run wherever he goes just to get a proper weapon. And if he's a douchebag you're screwed."

It should not be a thing to be managed by SL. Squadless = Rifle, Eng. Squaddie = Coolest toys in the shop.

I've been pondering this for a long time myself. I see visions of things like spawn vehicles (APC's, Trucks, no tanks or jeeps), spawn vehicles with memory (SL sits in the vehicle for XX seconds, turns into squad spawn until wrecked. Only APC's/Trucks) or freely deployable building/location based spawn.

The last option should be invisible to enemy team and be destroyed by enemy troop entering the said area/building, like 25m or closer to the spawn? Then it's up to the SL to provide best location for his squad. Cooldown to lay down a spawn for living SL could be 3-5min or death. SL can spawn there 3 times and it disappears? Or something. The more rules we force, less useful it will become.

I have had even crazier ideas, but it all comes down to 2 things: Limits of engine and the people we play with. Engine limits are unknown to me and people are... well, people. No system is unbeatable by the biggest bastards in the game and whatever, if any, system we place, should be tested thoroughly by them.

I'm up for a mini-mod test scenario on a weekend. I'm not sure how lively Forgotten Honor is today, but like their mini-mod, we could test this the same way. A map X, with new and improved spawn system, running for a weekend. Keep noise long enough (news, forum, etc) and maybe it could be done. Everyone agrees to be as asshole as possible and it'll feel like standard pubby... ;)

Sorry, I meant I will go for K98/G43/STG44. To be entirely honest I don't like to use LMGs.

Sorry, didn't mean to strike out on personal level, it was more of a general note for all. Sounds are a big part of the game and hearing that K98 or MG42 go off brings attention, sometimes quicker than the blue name pops up.

There's been cases where I've taken a shot at a silhouette based purely on the sound of the gun. Tough luck, if it's one of our own.

26
I will, however, drop an allied kit for an axis one if the opportunity presents itself  ;)

Aaaand get shot by anyone reacting fast enough... I dislike people who go for MG42's as allied. I always shoot first and ask questions later. I think the mod should have a server option 'was using enemy weapons, screw him for getting TK'd=1' and drop that minus score on those who deserve it... Meh.

Tell me where can I find this unscoped Springfield in game?
It's in scout kit at Pointe Du Hoc.  ::)

Also on ammo kit, I think? In Hurtgen Forest and PHL?

edit: I vote Kar98 and SMLE. Best sights in the game.

That's one pimped out Hetzer. Seen it before, but died before I could take a SS.

0.1 its just perfect for me, like the old one.
I have tank mouse sensitivity down to 0.1 like LHeureux and the mouse sensitivity way up.

no way .. i have it at 3.5! you can compensate the slide with a bit of training.
why do i do that? having the mouse sensitiviy at 0.1 sets you at a serious disadvantage in a self propelled gun, because the gun doesnt seem to move. at a high speed it works perfectly fine for stug, marder, hetzer, jagdpanzer and jagdpanther and doesnt slide.

Well, it works perfect for me. I have quite a good mouse, with a switch button between modes. Led off mode is around 1750dpi and led on is around 4000dpi. 1750dpi is perfect for inf and 4000dpi is perfect for everything else. Funny thing though, 4000dpi is needed for inf on BFBC2 :p The other mode is dead slow there. I never really tweaked the mouse for FH2, I kept the default settings until 2.4. Even then, only tank sensitivity was set to 0.1, after going through 1.0, 0.5 and 0.2. I rarely tweak the mouse in a game, it just messes up the feel for it.

I know, except it doesn't happen in any other game or program. Only thing I can think of is the display adapter. I need to borrow an Nvidia from somewhere and test it out...
