I'm not really making this suggestion because I think it would be good for the mod, but more because its being going round in my head and I want to get it written down before I forget it. Well, technically its several different ideas that are linked. Anyhow, I'd like to hear what your thoughts on them are - how you would improve on them and any criticisms of flaws you can see.
The main thing that was going round in my head was that the number of bullets remaining in your gun could be hidden. However to represent the ability to guess the number of shots left by weight, the 'health bar' like thing that shows the percentage of shots left in vBF2 would be in the place of the bullet counter. This would give you a good idea of how many shots you have left, but not the actual number. Guessing would be easier for the guns with low magazines like rifles, and harder for high capacity guns such as the thompson.
The number of magazines left and the fireing mode of the gun would remain. Single shot guns (e.g. PzB39, Bazooka) would remain the same as currently.
Coupled to this is maybe removing the automatic reload on empty thing. I know this can be disabled manually, but I'm curious as to how it would be if it was compulsery (except on single shot guns).
The final thing would be to make all clip fed guns unable to reload until empty. I know this is being done for the garand so the ping sound can be included, but it seems a bit odd that you can keep forcing bullets into a k98 without taking them away. Affected guns would be: Garand, both carcanos, k98, and P17. I'm not sure about the lee enfield though.
Also, I should point out that the above only really apply to hand held guns, not vehicles (though stationary mgs could be included).
