(for some reason I cannot edit my first post)

UPDATE: there is now a live version with all maps and all layers online at
https://minniefh.bitbucket.io. Not finished yet, some things remain to be done.

todo:

- make more and better custom icons
- include more categories (e.g. split up tanks into light, heavy, TD, ...)
- crop the minimap for each layer to the actually ingame-visible area

I've been talking about this on discord a bit, this is a small project to autogenerate
wikipages about FH2 maps.

What I'm aiming to do is to have, for each map, a page with the general description,
and a set of minimaps marking the location of ammoboxes, kits, vehicles, static
emplacements, spawn- and controlpoints.

Since updating and maintaining this would be an absurd amount of work, the idea is
to automagically generate those, by parsing the map's .con files, without manual
intervention, so that when something in the map is updated you just run the script.

So you take the unzipped mapfiles and it spits out a bunch of minimap image files plus a simple MediaWiki page (I've grabbed fh2.fandom.com for uploading them later).

I'm using python3 + Pillow for this (I don't use the BF2 python bindings, though).
You can find the current code for this at  https://bitbucket.org/MinnieFH/fh2parse

There is still a bunch of work to be done, I will update this post here when that happens. For now a quick peak:

I see, thanks for the clarification!

I love that many tanks have a cupola-position slot where you can actually use binoculars to spot for arty while in a tank, but i noticed an inconsistency: the brit sherman-2 (on mareth) has this feature, but the sherman 5 (on goodwood) does not, sadly

sherman 2:

sherman 5

This is a bigger issue than before, since you cant use kits when sitting on a back of the tank any more (to prevent the teleport-while-repair exploit). But now you have to hop out of the sherman 5 to make a spot, and also you don't have a nice high position on foot like you do up in the cupola.

I don't event think there tank cupola needs to be changed on the tank model into an open cupola -- if you look at the brit vehicle list, you see both the 2 and 5 are modeled with a closed cupola.it might look a bit ugly (?), but you certainly don't notice it while you are in the position yourself.

Could this be added to the sherman 5 (and maybe other tanks?) even if there is no model for an open cupola (or a cupola animation, even)?

Hi, I have 1 small issue about object placing:

one of the tanks is positioned in a way that you drive right in front of the arty -- in the last keren game I was using arty and someone accidentally drove in front of me, so I almost TK'd him (remember you are in arty cam and are not paying attention to what is happening there). funny enough, a bit late in that same round I was tired of arty and eventually took that same tank, and almost got me TK'd as well (even though I was complaining about this a few minutes earlier eheheheh) , but when rushing tanks out to battle you forget that.

could the tank spawn be moved to sit next to the truck/uni-carrier in the same screenshot to avoid the tank being shredded?

Hi, I have 1 small issue about object placing:

There is a tree right infront of the nebelwerfer, so that when you are zeroed in on wardin (the south flag that is usually well defended) your rockets are hitting that tree. could this tree be removed, please?
