How odd, where did my post go.
Anyhow... try downloading the torrent from Warumdarum.de. That one has no password. Generally iirc all post-release torrents should be PW-free.

Edit, found it, it somehow ended in the wrong thread... ah well... ^^

Yes, it was Warumdarum.de (torrent) i downloaded it from.

Could it be that im using the wrong "bit"? ive no idea what it is or what mine is or anything about it, but ive noticed theres possibly two versions of this "bit", (could be the numbers 64 and 32) but i could well be talking compleate nonsence.

Damn, no one close to you who has a working FH2 version? Any chance that you still have the old folder somewhere on an old harddisk? You could upgrade from that version then with the incremental patch.

Alas no, i got this new computer just before christmas and ive been trying to get FH2 working since then. the version on my old computer (using Windows Vista i think) was the latest FH2 also.

Ive no idea what the problem can be as its a new computer, a blank slate as it were, so logicly if i follow instructions to install FH2 onto Win7 by the letter it should work, i just dont understand what the problem with it is.

Another thing that crossed my mind is if it could be something to do with profiles? when you click on the FH2 icon you then get a list of "profiles", usually "defaultplayer" is there and also "Bromhead", naturally ive been using Bromhead to get this far but when i attempt to use defaultplayer i seem to be able to get as far as getting to the server menu in multiplayer (as i say, with Bromhead i click on multiplayer and it automaticly goes to desktop).

Ah that sounds interesting, is your User Account an Admin on your PC?
What happens if you register a new Account besides your default and Brom?

Ok could you show us a screenshot of your BF2/FH2 directories?
Also a screenshot of the ForgottenHP folder under my_documents would help. :)

Not sure how to do screenshots unfortunatly.

you refer to directories, are these the location of the folder? if so then...

C:/program files/EA games/battlefield 2

its got a load of files and folders in there all to do with FH2. Also after serching theres also a file alled "Forgottenhp 2" with 4 folders labeled "dmp, LogoCashe, mods, Profiles".

this "Forgottenhp 2" folder is in...

C:/ users/comet/My Documents/Forgottenhp 2

Im not sure if this helps.

1. concerning the screenshots:
thats the folders we're after.

now when you have them open on your screen press the key "Print Screen" which you can find in the upper right corner of your keyboard, to take a screenshot

next open paint (you can find it in start menu/accessories) and click on "paste" in the upper left corner

now the screenshot that you took should appear in paint.
save that picture and upload it to this thread (use the proper reply button, not quick reply)

2. also try renaming the forgottenhp2 folder you found to something else (.e.g. forgottenhp2old)

3. using the same method described above can you get us a screenshot of the last thing you see before fh2 crashes? i.e. before you press on multiplayer

4. you mention that you're using the bromhead nick. did you retrieve this ingame or did you import any files/documents/settings from your old computer?

I think thats should show up, it took a while to fathom out how to do it.

Tried to take a screenshot of the screen before i click multiplayer but when i past into paint it only seems ato past a black screen, but i can describe it in detail (i'll keep working on getting a screenshot of it though).

As for the nick i just remember the name and password, i didnt retrieve anything from my old computer, as i say, its as if ive started afresh when installing BF2 and FH2 but it doesnt work (all i kept from when i used to play on my old computer is my account with "Bromhead", as its on the internet and i remembered my details. and im not sure thats the issue as ive since tried another account and it still doesnt work)

ok another tack,

go to your /documents folder, then /forgottenhp 2/Profiles/Default and open video.con with editor

post the contents of that file

do the same with the folders 0001, 0002, and so on

then we also need to know either what computer youre using if you bought it complete, or if happen to know, the type of graphics card inside it. as well as the monitor you're using.

also try not running it in compability mode (but still run as admin)

Sorry for being particularly slow on the technical side of things.

ive found the "video.con" but im not sure what you mean by editor, when i click on it it asks what program ide like to open it with.

As for the computer, it was a pretty advanced computer when i bought it, all bells and whistles and a very good graphics card (which i know works as ive played pretty advanced games on high quality) as for the monitor thats pretty old but in good shape, ive had no problems with the monitor ever (its the same monitor i used when i used to play on the old computer).

Tried running it without compatability mode but it just doesnt work, the game doesnt even open.

by editor i mean the windows notepad.
when it asks you what program to open with you have to browse and look for C:\Windows\notepad.exe

if you dont know the models of graphics card and whatnot, open start menu and type in dxdiag. run that.
first check wether it tells you of any problems, and select save all information. then upload that .txt file for us
