Decided to go way back in time, looking for whodunits so I discovered The big sleep
Why do they call them classics? Sure Casablanca is a gem all the way through, so is Dr Strangelove, but I can't watch some of these oldies with my critical friends... to painful for even me - I wince when I see some scenes. Fists fights are terrble (in French please, I need the emphasis) - And the plot is so weak compared to any 24 episode - Well, obviously...
Was just looking to see if there actually was a movie that exists with a P.I, a gorgious femme fatale, the main actor doing a monologue throughout the movie in his head, street-wise, twists.. dark alleys and wise-crack dialogue..
It seems like the parodies fit the mould better than the supposed-to-be real deals - The max paynes, Kiss-kiss bang bangs, Stay tuned and Who frame Roger rabbits...
The big sleep gets a 6/10 for its time and a 3/0 compared to anything current
I wonder if hollywood would decide to use serious special effects and put actors from times past with actors of today - It could make a terrific movie... Humphrey Bogart and George Cloony, Arnorld Schwatzenegger and Sly Stallone,
Some of the oldies are icons, Bogart's got swagger - if he ever found the right role - Sure would be nice to see what they'd do today - Just bring their acting style to date, get clearer versions of their voice and give em a cigarette
