Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad
« on: 03-05-2009, 21:05:23 »
Yes boys and girls, RO fans everywhere! Tripwire has finally (and somewhat accidently) announced it's next big project built on the Unreal 3 engine - Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad.

Apparently there is a story all about it in the lastest US and UK PC Gamer magazines. Sadly, I haven't read it, and haven't been able to find any scans online.

Here's the scoop: http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=30283

Mwew. I looked forward to it but as some of those guys say already, Ostfront again. Why not something refreshing like the Blitzkrieg, early war. Poland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and the Battle for Britain.
"Force answers force, war breeds war, and death only brings death.
To break this vicious circle one must do more than act without thought or doubt."

Hmmm. I'm interested...but not. I can't see why they went for Ostfront again...but I can at the same time.

I suppose it's not made that much of an impact because I kind of expected it. If that makes any sense.

Sounds cool, although it'll be a steam only release, which means I won't be playing it.

Notice that the article said you could play the single player mode on both sides. Will this be pretty much the first major commercial World War II first-person shooter title to have a single player campaign where you can play as the Germans?

Um what? first how do you know it's steam only, and second, why in the hell does that matter?

Well lets see, First, its Red Orchestra, secondly it matters to alot of people who don't and never plan to have credit or debit cards, or paypals.

Its pretty tough to get by in life without at least one of those. Not like you need 20 like some people, but I think one is not overkill.

emphasis mine
Twilight - the movie is just like Schindler's list... You know you're watching a crime against humanity, but it's sort of entertaining.~~Ts4EVER

A lot of people say that, but I don't find it hard at all. I have saved enough money in my bank account that any time I am really pressed for cash, I have it on hand and ready to use. I just don't see the benefit in having credit lying around my house in the shape of a plastic card with numbers on it, or on my computer screen in the form of size ten Times New Roman font.

Exactly, who says that it's going to be Steam only? They've never said that publicly.

And one of your issues with it was that it was "Red Orchestra"... well if you don't like the game then whether it's on Steam or not is a mute point isn't it?
