Audio recognization shouts
« on: 25-10-2010, 21:10:16 »
You know those shouts they did to recognize friend from foe??
Thunder -> Flash (sorry don't know the german ones)

I know I'm blowing down a bullhole but was thinking about this, if not for this reason, then for the LOLs or gameplay without VOIP. Probably it's a waste of time and useless but I suggested it with the best of reasons.

A simple No with explanation will do.

They're called passwords ;)

I don't see any use for them in FH2 apart from some immersion maybe. For this purpose the team already created the crickets, which we may see if we get an airborne map in Normandy.

Most likely no, as it would require making new voices and those new voices wouldn't fit with old ones.

I rather have big blue tags for friendlies that are seen for miles and of course through objects.

No. Not because the idea is bad. It is really good :) but because it will not work even if implemented. People would scream flash and thunder left and right, but the amount of TKs would not go down.

If we could get icons hovering in the 3D world, over the friendly head when he screamed "Flash", then perhaps :)

I actually wrote a design for our Clicker weapon, that would work like this. It would produce an icon on the teammate who used it, but it was turned down by our coders.

Kind of like this icon over your team mates head

We need something like this

What's the distance limit on the blue icons for team-mates?

Would love the blue icon to just stay on the head of team-mates for a long distance - this would save time and team-kills - have team-killed quite a bit over longer distances where the icons don't show up straight away

Also have been killed by other enemies, when I've been busy checking whether the guy in the distance is a friend or foe by aiming at him and not realising an enemy has come and spattened me or entrenched me or even pitchforked me - damn them angry farmers

Wow, that's a pretty good idea, Natty. Was it impossible to code ?
In FHT there is a night paradrop map and it would have been pretty cool to use something like that.
Now I rely on the minimap, but the clickers would be much better.

I dunno if it was impossible, it's just we don't need it. We have maybe one or two maps where it could be used, as it would be silly if the americans had this on Cobra, Lebisey or such maps. Only D-day maps would make sense, and Im sure history-nazis will tell us only certain troops had them, paratroopers or so, which we have currently only one maps with...

coders rather spend a week on other things.
