I am looking to buy myself a decent digital camera and i have been looking at the Pentax K-30 or K-50 when it come out.

What do you guys think? I have the feeling the will offer a good Price/Quality.

If i buy these, what type of lens would be best for outdoor pictures, range till about 50 meters and your average indoor stuff?

The thing is, pretty much every dslr you can buy today offers more than enough quality. Its more about the menus, the handling and the accessories. Personally i advise people against digital pentax cameras even thou they are very good, sure, but as soon as it comes to choice of lenses, third party accessories and especially the used market, pentax is pretty much non-existant. For the big brands like Canon and Nikon you can get everything for pretty cheap since everything is easily available, but for pentax it gets stressy. I have one dude in my photography class who shot pentax, and he switched to canon like after half a year because he said it super hard to come by decent lenses or stuff like flashes and flash triggers. You need something special all the time and cant use the "standard" stuff that everyone else already uses.

If you just want to buy a camera, shoot around with it and not really bother with it, dont plan to maybe buy a used lens or two or get third party lenses, go for the pentax, its definitely a great camera. If you plan to extend your set later on or get more into it, i really recommend you to stick to the big brands.

I am not really doing professional stuff and i only want good quality pictures of myself and my hiking trips. So I sepose Pentax should be ok then. I am deliberately staying away from the big brands for the same reason I don't buy apple/samsung, it might be good but everybody + there pets have it.

And if they give good stuff then they should be supported in order to grow.

Edit: Thanks for the reply Corvax.

If you're just going for digital camera to mess around with and not really do serious photography, I'd recommend a 400 EUR smartphone with a camera like the Samsung Galaxy S III. You get the most out of your money by getting the camera it has on it plus all of it's other features and it beats most digital camera's I have ever owned.

I got that already on my HTC ONE S, that thing takes the best inside pictures with low light i have ever seen. Looks better on the picture then in real life.
