There's a mod for Crusaders Kings II. Didn't play it but from what I've seen it looked really impressive.

I just love the shock of people that usually only watch insert-case/weirdo-of-the-week-series-where-everyone-always-lives.

;D

There is too much twist, or anti-climax, it is becoming a cliche now.

But we get the message: yeah you can be "the good guy," but don't get too cocky or stuck up with it, or you'll be gruesomely murdered.

I've just started watching GoT. And I think I'll like it. I like Romance of Three Kingdoms, and this is something like that with awesome production value and a lot more characters to root for and detailed intrigues.

I promised my friend that I'd watch this shit if he'd watch Breaking Bad. Currently neither of us has started doing anything about it.

I get what you mean. Certain shows get so hyped that you just don't want to be part of it.

As for Game of Thrones; if you enjoyed Lord of the Rings then you'll probably enjoy this too.

I wouldn't say that... the style is quite different imo. LotR is a classic fantasy adventure, while GoT has the structure of a historical drama, just in a fantasy world.

LOTR -> good vs bad
GoT -> everyone dies, everyone is bad

In GoT when the good guys died, and you have to hold all the anguish, pain, sense of helplessness, tantalising urge for revenge. Sit there, watching the gorish scene unfolds, sometimes slowly and with some perverse sense of twist. The bad guys died too, but they don't receive the same on-screen treatment.

Some medieval cuckolding and brutality are lavishly provided and served in an intricate plot too, to give it more modern view on historic times.
