What's the closest you ever got to the exact point you were at? I think I once managed to hit like 50km from the spot :D

Helped that the place names were every where.
-
It is cheating if you check the place-names on regular google maps. You have to comb the country or guess.

Gave me almost 6500 points lol

Hehe, this reminds me of a game I used to play on a forum which was called "Guess the location". One guy posted a picture and then you had to guess where it was. After each guess a new picture was posted. I'll try this too when I have some more time :)

Online game--> forum game section?

I didn't look for any flags, it looked a bit like NY State, including the old American school buses. :D Luckily I wasn't so far off.

It is very similar in concept with Pursued.

Using Google Streetview, you have to guess the name of the cities you are stranded in. It is getting progressively difficult. Especially the last one.
One of the best way to find out: look for shop sign, some business will put address under their banner name (and sometimes contact info).
Some international hotel chains fly the national flag of the country. Guessing the country's capital or largest city is a good start.
If you are stranded in the middle of nowhere, like the last level of Pursued, but all you can see is suburban homes flying American flags, with American SUVs/pick ups parked, and mountainous region. Look further, there must be Wal Marts or big discount warehouses that sometimes features a big phone number + area code. I googled that area code and found out the place.
