Once in a great while an update comes along and blows my mind. This is one of those times. I have three things to say:

1. HOLY

2.

3. SHIT

I mean that screenshot alone took my breath away. And this coming from a veteran off every single FH2 update since it's announcement. I guess I never cease to be amazed!

"... designed to tie down the Germans to ease the American operations in the west."
I smell some Field Marshall Montgomery bullshit.
Other than that it's a great update.

Yes and no.

Yes, he lied and changed his story on most of his offensives from being the ones that would take Caen, to being just to hold down the germans.

And yes, he is right that his offensives did hold down the best of the german divisions, which allowed the americans to be basically unopposed by quality german units other then the Fallschirmjager.

Ok, so my first question is thus: how big is this map compared to maps like Alam Halfa or El Alemein?  It looks big, but its hard to judge the size because there is no reference to scale it properly.
It actually looks pretty small from a tankers point of view and the map isn't as big as I'd imagined; I'm just juding from the size of houses but I hope that I'm wrong.

You might want to get that checked out.

Seriously WOW you guys. This is one of the most jaw-dropping updates Ive seen. Two things stand out in my mind now. The awesome city shot with that beautifully skinned roof (bottom left pic) and those two railroad crossings, which I can already see as interesting chokepoints. God am I looking forward to this release. :)

Also, the glider is awesome, and I hope to see a map to go with its silent glidering. Maybe a map named after an animal that does a fair amount of gliding itself?

IE, there better be the famed 88 FLAK front that knocked out almost 80 british tanks that von Luck wrote about in his memoirs.  He actually had to force the Flak officer at gun point to stay and fight, and when he came back to check on them, upwards of 80 british tanks were burning in the fields, for nil losses on the part of the 88 gunners.

That sounds very interesting Von Mudra. But where would those 88's be positioned?...

:o. That map looks awesome i was already thinking are we going to see any flat terrain with long view distance maps. And there is so many many assets as well that look so good, Normandy is definitely going to differ from Africa.

Far as I know, they were basically sited over a long flowing field that one of the british tank brigades was attempting to cross.  And, well, the tank brigade didn't make it across.  Von Luck didn't go into specifics on it, sadly.

To quote the wiki article

"Spotting a Luftwaffe Flak battery of 88mm guns, Luck ordered the commander to open fire on the flank of the British tanks. The battery commander, a young captain, refused to do so, as he was under orders to engage enemy aircraft. At this refusal Luck drew his service pistol, leveled it at the man and said "Either you're a dead man or you can earn yourself a medal."[18] The battery thus engaging the enemy....  The Luftwaffe 88mm battery Luck commandeered earlier in the day accounted for about 40 British tanks alone."

That's conflicting with the book, where von Luck said it was around 80 when he inspected the slaughter himself, but that number from wiki might only be counting those that were completely destroyed, and not those that were hit and abandoned, but were salvageable.  Or, considering its wiki, it might just be dead wrong :P

God now i look at that one SS their.....jesus look at the details

i cant wait to sit in those buildings, With a PIAT or a Panzerfaust(Shreck?:v), waiting for those foolish German tanks to enter XD

Browsing a bit bout Operation goodwood, it appears a few King tiger tanks and Churchill tanks participated in the battle.WIll they be included for this map?
