So we all already know about the Oculus Rift, but what about movement? There's no full immersion if you can't feel like you're moving in the game world...

Now a lot of projects already tried this, but this one is kind of special, as it uses no moving parts! Combine it with the Rift and that ARAIG suit (yeah, they didn't make it, but in the future?), and you got a full virtual reality, right now... For a price, of course... But, in a few years... Who knows?

Omni Kickstarter:

Oh, and it works with all games that support mouse and keyboard, which means you could be running through the sands of Africa or climbing the cliffs of PDH (yeah, not sure about that :P) for "real" one day...

Rubbish. Just as all other motion controls. It serves no real purpose and is just a useless gimmick. Why would you ever want to run and jump around while playing a game? The only way I see it working if you didn't need to move at all and it was in a completely virtual environment.

Looks like a complicated, expensive and space-taking-up replacement for WSAD keys. Probably can't play it at night without waking everyone up too. Unless it turns out to be (relatively) cheap, precise and reliable enough I don't see it being any good.

Well it seems to me that it's a lot less complicated than others with threadmills and stuff... And I don't know, it could be a cool home exercise machine.. On a rainy day, you could go running on the sunny beaches of Hawaii or something...

It's not meant to replace Rift, it's meant to supplement it... And yeah, for competitive gaming it won't replace the keyboard, as all the "pro" players would need to start training in gyms and getting fit to actually be able to compete... xD

I still would! But I dont play COD. Rifle recoil never really wears me out, but I am stocky I guess. The only things that wear me out are shotguns with high brass.

Seeing this was only an IDEA, and ideas can't die... It's not dying at all... It just never really took off.
