Far Cry 3

So close now....Anyone getting this?

Little walk through bit.....

Co-op has a guy from New England in it!   ;D

Lots of other nifty videos if you poke around a bit.  Multiplayer looks like it might be a bit COD for my taste but it does come with a groovy map editor (even on consoles).  Have not looked forward to a game this much since BF3.

Nope. FarCry 2 was so amazingly bad that I'm not going to bother with this one.

FC2 wasn´t that bad, it just got repetitive and boring after a while, though. I quite enjoyed the first few hours, but clearing the same checkpoint for the bazillionth time became a chore.
I´ve only seen a handful of trailers for FC3, but I´m not hyper-stocked for the game, tbh. I´ll probably wait for tests and maybe until it goes on sale eventually before buying it.

I think Im too much of a sucker for this kind of environment to not get this game, but I agree with homer about FC2.. I lost interest also after a few hours, but those hours I still remember.. some of the assaults you did on gangster hideouts were really cool, but after a while everything was resorted to setting everything on fire and running over animals with the car. It was a bit meh.

FC3 is one of those games I could buy simply for the graphics, just cruising around the jungle and shoot stuff while looking at beautiful things can be ok for X amount of hours.

My experience with FC2 was that it was a good game as long as you where actually playing it, but once you stopped , you sowhat lacked the motivation to start the game up again. It was a descent game, but not to the level that it was a rememberable one

Ohh Far Cry 2....I loved this fucking game so much.  It looked and sounded so great on the PS3.  this huge open world where anything was possible.  Such cool missions as well.  Then I opened up the second playable area and my mind exploded!  After about my 800th convoy mission though something clicked and the open world illusion just kinda melted away.  I don't think I have ever turned from love to utter disgust so fast playing a game.
This next installment looks to be different though.   Looks like it has a tight story with nifty characters and world populated by many factions that I can actually affect.

A nice vid where one of the devs talks about the open living world.

Yeah, the living world in FC2 was just an illusion that faded quite quickly. I did enjoy the variety of weapons and the wear & tear system, among other things. Great music and sounds, for example.

That is funny....I loved it as well, and that is the one thing beyond the annoying re-spawning checkpoint bullshit they said they made a point of removing.   :(

Those respawning checkpoints were pretty much the reason why I didn't finish Far Cry 2 :/

I will not buy this game because I don't have money, but probably later I will.

If I have money, the next game I will buy will be AC3 because I love AC serie and I love stuff about american revolution. But I have to say FC2 was good, but too repetitive. So like many of us I lost  interest quickly.

Looks like it has gotten a great deal of love.

Map editor looks pretty fun to play with.  Nice island with a handful of WW2 objects Hmmmmmm.....I wonder what my first map will be.  Wish the guy doing the video review had gone into some depth about some of the gameplay elements that could be placed.

TB has done a "WTF is" on FC3:

I gotta say, I´m quite interested in the game. Might be I´ll get it for christmas, if they won´t mess it up too much.

Alright, so I bought the game and played around 3 to 4 hours today.
It´s actually pretty good. The open world is huuge, looks gorgeous and all sorts of different animals add life to it.
One of the main problems of FC2, enemies constantly reoccupying outposts, was solved as you conquer them permantently now. There are many different guns of which some you can costumize and different vehicles.
The crafting system is a bit "meh", though, but otherwise the game seems very promising. The story is pretty good as well and I´m quite excited to see what´ll happen later on.

The main protagonist seems like a good and deep character.  :)
