System requiremts questions
« on: 10-05-2010, 18:05:06 »
Hi
i have simple question for you.
I need a computer that makes this game run smothly .
Right now i am using my laptop, a Acer Aspire 6930ZG
-dual core t3400 (2.16Ghz)
-Ge force 9600M GS Turbo cache
-4 GB ddr2 Ram
-Win vista 32
And the game is running slower every day, and it is kind of strange because at the beginning (like 4 months ago ) i was playing with full details and no problems but in the latest 4 weeks i had to decrese the level of detail and sound quality.
If anybody have a solution to make the game go like it used to, you are more than welcome to post here your ideas.
If not see first paragraph.

Thank you

I suspect you should just clean your computer. Dust really slows down computer amazingly alot. I just cleaned my computer and were able to raise settings from low to medium.

just google the laptops name and service manual
it usually is much more detailed then the usual manual and has instructions for cleaning or at least taking the thing apart to clean it.

And don't forget to defrag your harddisk on a regular basis. Win7 has taken care of this problem but Vista was still prone to fragmenting haddrives.

Vista has probably filled up your :C drive. Empty the temp files and the whole error message storage crap and you should be good to go.

You have filled your laptop with unecessary programs, spyware, virusses, all kind of software crap that is filling up your main memory and diskspace. Your harddisk is probably very fragmented too.

All in all I think judging the tone of your voice, you dont know anything about PC's. These kind of people manage to somehow get their windows full of cpu/memory eating processes that basically degrade performance tremendously.

It's like basically people not fixing their car for a decade ; its rusty, the oil is empty, the filters are clotted, the tires are soft, the exhaust is noisy. All in all the car runs at HALF the speed because of poor maintenance.

Your pc is no different! Get some handy nephew to reinstall windows for you - backup your documents first. Only solution, imho.

Yep probably just spyware and windows crap taking resources... I don't think its dust but well I have giant gamer case that has million holes so even if it gets a bit dust it blows it outside anyways in a moment. Ofc I do clean it once a month with compressed air (GPU and power gets filled by dust easily)
I only drink beer to make room for few more in the fridge

It takes only one click.

So, the last time i had to take care of a big problem was 2 months ago and i solved it with a nice format.
I keep win and avg updated all the time and i defrag once a week(right before the defrag i do a scan disk), i use this pc like 3 hours a day, and inside there are only pictures and program to do some photoretouch.
Installed there are :
-ITunes (for my ipod)
-AVG
-Photoshop CS3
-Silkypics
-Microsoft office
-Skype
-MSN
-Still some stupid acer bundle programs that i am not able to delete
-Battlefield 2 (fh2)
-Steam (counterstrike source, day of defeat 2)
