Title: FinnWars - WW2 Multiplayer FPS

So, the guys behind FinnWars mod for Battlefield 1942 have started collecting funds for new standalone version of the game, which is using Unreal Engine 4. For those who don't know, FinnWars mod concentrated on battles between Finland and Soviet Union during World War 2, with bit of Lapland War (Finland vs. Germany) in the side. I'm not going to go in much detail here, on the Indiegogo funding page the devs tell pretty much everything about the game, but I copied the feature list here for everyone to see. For what I've read there, it sounds very cool and the theme is of course very close to my heart. Me and many other Finns here in FH community have our roots in FinnWars community.

I'd love to map. Would be great to see how well the heightmap I've done for FH2 would translate to Unreal engine.

My nostalgia senses want to fund this game. While my sensible money spending side tells me otherwise. It would be awesome to see this

The maps don't look like they provide cover for infantry. At least not on all pictures. A flat surface with gras on it doesn't provide cover.

It doesn't have to.

It's a heightmap, it would look the same :), of course after import you should probably be able to make it more detailed with higher res grids. And on top of that all the other cool stuff you can do with unreal.

Anyways cool idea, more bf games for the people! I hope they make it. I will certainly consider donating.

And ciupita, long time no see. Time for betatesting!

Just saw that at the War of Rights forum, haha.

F...me,I'm getting old,I remember playing Finn Wars mod (only SP however,I've found that too late).
Interesting, many former Battlefield mods are now turning into standalone games. Eve of Destruction (EoD Redux),Forgotten Hope (Traction Wars),Project Reality (Squad),and now Finn Wars. Former Trauma Studios members should definitely work on a standalone of the good old Desert Combat...

Just got disappointed with the new UE 4. Expected to be graphically superior to UE 3,but it looks like the same at max. Hope those are very early and not finished models.

That is correct.

[...] Forgotten Hope (Traction Wars) [...]

This isn't exactly true, various other developers are working there aswell. ;)

The devs have said that this current is the minimum level, and it will get much better.

Mmm... Anti-air guns and airplanes. Would that work at UE? A map with tanks/infantry/aircraft,just like the good ol' BF42 (or FinnWars more specifically) but with modern graphics, sounds and complex physics and movements?
