My first thought was "Kudos to them, they really put lots of effort into a huge April-1st-joke, but t´s too odd with all the wierd posts and reports....
IMO it´s better to move on and stick to this board. Let the old FF forum die in honour and concentrate on the future...

Yep FH has needed a its own forums for a long time now... so this is an opportunity for that to happen. These boards are fantastic and once we settle in, it will be just like old times.

hmmm.... seeing as filefront has so many people who love it i can imagine how bad this is going to damage there reputation.

It wasn't a joke, just unfortinate timing. Filefront as been reacquired by it's orginal owners from the evil hands of Ziff Davis (who dumped FF like a cheap hooker) at the very last moment before she would have been lost for ever.

  I agree...Lets take a lesson from history and pull a Cortes...Gather what we can/want from the old forums and set fire to them.  That way there will be no turning back.

Let it burn I say. These a good forums for a good mod.

I was involved in the CoH/DoW community for awhile, helped backup some files and then this happens. I don't plan on going back.

Unless they trim off some "fat" probably including all the forums and some of the smaller/inactive subsites, I don't know if they can survive the current economic conditions.

Better in the long run to stay here, surely. When you have more control of the forum, you can cope far better in the future to keep that history intact (backup the database etc.). The forums at filefront are presumably outside their control, and sooner or later that history will be lost. I don't know if anyone around here was an Unreal Tournament player back in the UT99 days, but PlanetUnreal kind of forked as the site admins went independent to form BeyondUnreal. And it turned out to be a great thing, especially for the forums (which are still going strong now... with posts/accounts still active from the 90's..).

On the downside... I'll miss having a forum account with a join date from 2003... it made me feel so... superior to new people  ;)
