New PC
« on: 30-12-2011, 14:12:11 »
My PC died after 6 years of loyal service. It being a budget machine, i only upgraded it once to 4 gigs of ram(wich ended up costing me 20 euro) and a new GFX (thank you Dnarag for this) 40 euro

I went back to the same store, because they give 2 years of warranty on everything and have great service

This is what i got=
MSI 870A-G54 Mainboard
AMD Athlon II x4 955
 (Quad 3,2 Ghz - 8Mb Am3socket)
8 gigabyte of RAM
1 Terrabyte SATA HD 32MB buffer
NVidia GF GT  440 1GB
Windows 7
2 DVD drivers and one for burning DVDS
mouse, keyboard, sound card, so a complete PC in the end
This costed me 600 euro's.

So, is this decent? Because if i pay 80 euros more i can equip a Nvidia GF GTS 550 1GB but i dont really want high end performance.

A bit expensive for the HW, but it could be worse. Are you getting the OS as an OEM for free from the store? ... Oh and kick the second Dvd Drive, DVD-Rs nowadays are stable and durable enough to ne used as a single Drive. Use the saved Money and buy a decend ATI6970.

its included in the price. I know that it is a more expensiver store then others, but there warranty and service quality is excellent.

Otherwise it's pretty much high end pc (well, at least it's better than mine and this is high end), but your graphics card sucks donkey balls.

Its depends, some say the warranty is only for manufacturer error and such

My power supply burned out. It wassent really manufacturer error, just bad luck. And i recieved a new one, free of charge

And should it break, it often fixed on the spot or in a few days. If i buy my PC in Aldi(very good PCS though) or mediamarkt, if something breaks i loose it for 2 weeks

@Ciu
If i pay 80 euro more, i can get a GTS 550 Nvidea. Not sure if it is a good one

Oh well, i will see how it performs. If it performs beyond expectations i can swap it back in and get a decent GFX

Graphics arent my concern. I always play with things like AA, Vsync and such switched off.

You prefer to to play without AA? Maybe you should just stick to what you have now?

Cant because my PC died.

My previous PC could barely handle games like BF3. And that was on lowest

Currently playing on my mates reserve PC (At a staggering rent rate of 1 beer per week)

I never played games much for there graphics. As long as there is no lag, i am satisfied. My previous PC started to lag and lag more on many games. (wich might explain why one of the cores of my PC died)

2 DVD drivers and one for burning DVDS
Are you sure one of them is not a Blu-Ray drive and the other DVD+/-RW drive? Because having an extra read-only DVD drive makes no sense at all. (That said, most BR drives have the ability to burn DVD's even if you can't burn BD-ROM with them, so it still does no make any frakking sense.) You can't even copy disc-to-disc other than audio CD's or unprotected data DVD's and you would have to do this quite a lot for two drives to be even remotely worth having.
Oh and kick the second Dvd Drive, DVD-Rs nowadays are stable and durable enough to ne used as a single Drive.
Case example: my old DVD burner (2005) burned well over 1000 discs without problems over five years while also working as the install/media watching drive. Finally, the ejection mechanism failed partially (you could only eject the tray if there was a disc in drive), though using a bent paper clip the tray could still be opened and the drive itself still worked just fine. But since new drives are less than 20€, I ended up replacing it.

My current PC runs on Core2Duo and still uses 8600GT. Handles current FH2 with all sliders to the right easily.

Buy an ATI Card of the 69xx gen and save bigtime on power and you even gain performance.
As has been said above kick the second DVD Drive.
Be sure they give you a 64bit Win7!
