Suggestions / Re: Possible? Tank Immersion?
« on: 09-12-2010, 22:12:49 »
I'm all for this.

You rarely notice being hit. That happens a lot. Your tank is suddenly burning, when you didn't hear or feel anything.

Bug Reporting / Re: Ps IV model flaw

Unluckily there isn't any connection in any model between a moving bit and the main body.

Are you sure?
While those held by suspension would obviously not be directly connected, this one never moves up or down.
On most other tanks, the gap is so small you can't see it, but this ones pretty obvious, I saw it while looking around the flag for a downed enemy pilot.

(probably) related bug:
When driving some vehicles, I see "spikes" protuding out of the tracks (they move with the tracks, as if pasted on them). I only see them when inside the vehicle, and it only happens on 1-2 late ones. It applied to the Churchill before last patch, and is now present on, I think, the Wespe. I'll make some screens next time I see it.

Bug Reporting / Pz IV model flaw
« on: 07-12-2010, 22:12:30 »
The rear wheels on the Pz IV aren't connected to anything. They're just stuck flying there.
Same flaw might be present on other Pz IV based vehicles if they were done by the same person.

Seems like the MG won't be usable?

General Discussion / Re: Your favorite weapon in 2.3 ?
« on: 27-11-2010, 20:11:10 »
Well, since the thread really only asks for one weapon, I'd say the M1917 Enfield.
The sights are small, but very thin and accurate.
The sound is great, you truly feel your shots.
An amazing rifle, which tempts me to steal US ammo kits just for it.

I saw this topic at lunch from a public computer. I almost ripped the monitor off its stand.
I already saw someone say something similar ingame, but posting it here?

Also:

I'm not saying they weren't green, I'm just saying, its not blasphemy to think otherwise

It is when you start whining about realistic camo-choices when your source is a shitty war movie.

I just cant spent my time in this game when i have to hit someone over and over and over and over again just to get a kill whereas one patch before i could play whole rounds knife only....

And that sounds right to you?
Hell, I know how OP a knife could before, I remember killing 7+ guys and taking a flag alone on Purple Lane.
It was completely ridiculous, jumping around like a ninja and insta-killing people like I was playing some CoD game.

FH2 and PR both get my votes, for being the mods that made my BF2 copy more than worth it's price.

Even then, it's only a matter of seconds after firing before a rifleman pixel-snipes me from across the map.

Never mind rifles, let's talk about rifle-grenades, and how on most maps every rifleman carries those.
These are the bane of every static MG. "As they should" one would say, since they're an intended counter such threats, but there simply is too many of them (not on every map, thankfully).

Man, I don't know what to say.

But when you are defending a house, you want to hear footsteps. right? We can make footsteps be blocked by the tank, but that will also mean wooden fences, thin walls of houses etc will be blocked, so everybody will be ninjas. Now, a WW2 soldier with his gear and boots, can he run up a staircase in a house without making a sound?
In all the movies Ive seen, german soldiers make a hell of a racket whatever they do  8) (Those boots clamping on cranky wooden france floors)

So we need to weigh this; lone tanker VS all the infantry on a map. I think most people would vote to hear footsteps in houses/yards/streets etc.

Problem right now, is that open-topped vehicles have no advantage over fully closed ones.
They don't get a better view, since every tanker right now can see around from a spot above the turret, and they don't get to hear enemy tanks (or infantry) coming, or rather they do, just like in every other tank.

The only thing you get from driving a M10 or a Marder right now is the fun of getting strafed by every plane on the map and getting killed by any good rifleman who spots you before you spot them.

Tanks with closed structures/turrets should have external sounds muffled, if only to give a bit of an edge to open-topped ones.

I say Jagdpanzer.
Would probably be easier to place on future maps than the Jagdpanther.
Anyways yay, new update.
