"Airstrikes"
« on: 14-02-2010, 21:02:34 »
I asked myself if it was possible to make (instead of artillery) an "Bot bomber" passing and dropping bombs.
Maybe an alarm (of +- 10) before the bombardment begins.

It is possible, but the the main problem, as far as I know, is that there can only be one model for the bomber. Ergo all nations would have the same bomber.

Any chance to combine it with other planes that just fly by like the ones on PDH ? You could make the bombers invisible and just add planes flying but doing nothing at the same time ..

And you would/ should have to wait no less than 2 full minutes, unless you are referring to close air support fighter/dive bombers... Otherwise some people will start to complain how unrealistic it is

I'd prefer to have floating planes that won't get any where to reload i.e a one time use... or at least one time, until they spawn again

A good map this could be used in is Purple Heart lane and Point du Hoc counter-attack i.e PDH-32

Also, consider the binoc-bomber of FH1... those were my favorite!

@Thorondor123
But then you are likely to get bombs dropping from nowhere once in a while since those rail planes move in waves and are not always there

@Corvax. Then you could just make a fake bomber doing nothing? :)

I think this would be a good idea for SP matches. But for MP games I am not too sure. I think what sets FH 2 or Battle Field in general apart from other FPS games is that it gives you the opportunity to be that "Bomber" that "Tiger Ace" or "Storm Trooper" you have the freedom to contribute to the battle in your own way.

Then again I have seen it in use in Battle Field 1943 in which it can often be a match decider. More often than not the team that controls the radar station (Which gives the ability to call in raids) wins the battle.

naah, we rather have players playing the game. no bots or auto-bombs from the sky. you can't fight back against auto-bombs, which makes it a non-game feature.
we allready have commander arty, which is a one-way communication if the enemy cant kill or destroy the commander when he is shelling.

we prefer all players to be engaged in the same battle.

Maybe a silouette of a bomber would do it

Yeh i understand that Natty .. But it could replace the Commander Arty on some maps. A bombing run with a few Mustangs flying by and dropping a load of 500kb bombs would look much better than commander arty.

@Scrutinized: Naaaa, i mean combine invisible planes for the bombs, and visible planes (which dont do anything) for the visual appearance ..
