Possibility to "tow" AT guns!
« on: 24-12-2009, 00:12:23 »
Going through the usual forum jargon and spam an idea crept into my brain about the ways you could "tow" AT guns!

Theory 1:  In a usual flatbed truck, you could have an AT gun (just the AT gun, or the AT gun in a destroyable box) and move the truck to wherever you wanted the AT gun.  When arriving at one's vacation spot, simply lower the back of the truck and have the boxed AT gun/ At gun fall out the back.

2. For the actual towing, you could have a truck back up to the AT gun and porject some invisible walls (Reference Img 2) that would hold the AT gun in place behind the truck.  These walls would appear when the back is lowered and would disappear when the truck wall is brought back up.

interesting idea. but it seems like the gun would lag around the truck bed and be prone to fall out (upside down too, probably).

This was done in FH1, with the deployable 88mm.  It was towed by a track, and you'd turn the track, hit the arrow key, and it would deploy fully.  Problem is, it caused untold amounts of ungodly lag, and if you hit the giant truck, you blew up the 88.

You gave me an idea... We need those escalators which go on the ground like they have on airports!
It's half naked people on boats. That's all.
Here in Finland we call that "summer".

I don't like that solution, instead I think this should be better :

A truck, carrying a "dummy" 6 pounder on it's back.

you can drop the gun by clicking alt fire for the driver like you drop a bomb, then the dummy gun is dropped and a real gun is deployed like those deployable MG/Mortar.

You can't retrieve the gun without rearming the truck in the base, but that would be nice enough.

This is what I am hoping for. Please God, implement it for us!

What about using what the United Front boys used... How those small planes remain aloft of the larg Russian bomber

The fighter pilots release it themselves... So here, you need to have a slightly awkward look of bing attached to the gun and pressing some motion key to get it off - But if its an 88, that should be alll the moving it does

Or perhaps there is some way of deploying it from the truck? That will be ideal

And slimer yet, some way re-attaching?
