With a lot of games your cd key is stored in the registry and you can easily view it. I don't know if that is the case with BF2 though.

After patch you patched it to any patch it was removed as far as I know. Stop looking for it, as soon as you do you will find it(maybe).

Check the registry, it is there. The key is encrypted but it should work if you copy paste the registry value after you reinstall.

sn00x, to get into the registry, go to Run... and type regedit

In the registry (XP) your CD key info is under: My Computer\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc

But I wouldn't trust cutting and pasting it.

Right-click on the ergc folder and choose Export, then save it (it'll create a small 'Registration Entries' file). After you've reinstalled BF2, just double click that file and it'll write itself into the reg.

Remember to get that info out of the reg BEFORE you uninstall it or it's gone forever.

thanks for the replies, though i found my Cdkey :) now the ergc is removed as fast as you patch the game (that is what everyone on fourms acros the interentt says) since Dice wants to protect it further or something

Thats why i keep all my CD Keys in a text file on the drive and my backup drives. Its faster to look it up on the disk than to search the manual :P

open your registry
go to your BF2 key loacation (loca mashine/software/ electroni arts/bf2/erc or something like that)
now open the CD entry and infront of your CD key enter THIS: x9232
then save

so in the end it should read
x92325ADF6AFGHJ6  (where 5ADF6AFGHJ6  equals your CDKEY)

That's weird...I have no problem playing online, yet my serial number starts with x9392 and my CD key isn't in there anywhere...

Because it IS your CD key, but it's encrypted. However the game can still work if you write it "clear" in the registry ;)

I have "Your CD Key is not Valid" problem too. I've just installed the BF2 after 3 years not playing. In my registry i've found this in the key:
*removed your  key for you, nobody but you needs to know it* - Die Happy
I've added X9232 like suggested in forum - nothing
I've tried to add X9293 like in other forum suggestion - still nothing.
I've tried Capital "X" and small "x" - nothing
What may be the problem? Should I try and keygen another key?
Thank you in advance.
