Gaming / Kerbal Space Program
« on: 25-07-2013, 16:07:44 »
Okay dont wanna clutter the screenshot thread so ill open a new one for all the Kerbonauts out there :)

http://youtu.be/dlbHmsHOe-U

For all who dont know KSP yet, its quite like the Minecraft for space geeks. You can build your own rockets completely from scratch, you can build planes, space stations, surface rovers and whatever your mind makes up. With those you can fool around in your planets atmosphere or go on far fetches explorations deep into space, land on other planets, colonize and explore. Getting working rockets into space is amazing and the game really excels at keeping you pinned on the screen and refining your spacecraft, fine-tuning your course or avoiding that nasty collision with an other planet or rocket in space. Also, gravity is a b*tch ..

You can download the demo and build basic stuff or get the full version for quite cheap and build super sophisticated stuff :) Go try it and post some pictures of your creations :)

Well, i fideled around with my probe today and actually managed to get it so far out of orbit with the first stage that i reached Duna with only the ION engine on the probe. Mission time is +90 days, so it took quite a while, but now im 60 kilometers above Duna in a stable orbit enjoying the view with my "New Horizons" probe :)

Was quite a challange to get there since my probe is 12 tonnes heavy, and the ion engine gives very little thrust. In the end i had to use Duna's moon to brake my approach, otherwise i would've flown past Duna again ..

Next stop, either something on Dunas surface or Laythe since it looks pretty :)

Just went online. Mega (the former Megaupload, everyones favorite uploading site) is online again to host your stuff. You now get your own Cloud Drive with a web interface like the one from Dropbox for easy access to all your uploaded files, pictures, whatever.

https://mega.co.nz

Its super overloaded at the moment and insanely slow, but you can still try it out.

In case someone ist interested in some very good and strong pictures of the course of war and some rare events (like the capture of polish armored trains, japanese tanks in mongolia and such), hit this and be sure to check back every sunday.

Found this quite awesome. This guy built all ships the royal navy deployed since ww2 out of matchsticks. He counts a bit more then 430 ships now, and is still working on a lot more.

Suggestions / Prone animations ..
« on: 01-03-2010, 21:03:51 »
Ok now its time to place a suggestion again. Im seriously frustrated ..

First of all .. You Devs did an awesomeitastic job in preventing dolphin diving with the MG34/42, and its a pleasure to see that the MG class is getting more and more used tactically and not as a dolphin-rambo-tardo-weapon.
But now comes the problem. MG is great now, but people are more and more using all the other weapons to dolphin dive. They do it with rifles, they do it with smg's and they do it even with pistols. Seriously. Its fucking stupid. You try to engage someone quite far away, you crouch down, take aim .. and boom he jumps, gets prone and insta-headshots you with ultra accuracy with a bolt action rifle. And those are not lucky shots .. I get killed 7 out of 10 times by a freaking dolphin diving noob.

Now comes my suggestion. PLEAASSSEEE Devs, add a neat animation to ALL ! weapons and give ALL ! weapons some huge deviation shortly after going prone. Pleeasse ! There is NO freaking way that you run, throw yourself on your belly and end up with ultra accuracy and perfect sight on the target.
We need screen shacking when going prone, we need an animation where the player character somehow tries to save his face from kissing the ground like bracing themselves with their elbows or something, we need inaccuracy and some delay for firing. Going prone like this is just plain stupid, especially when you go prone and end up with and ultra accurate rifle, smg, pistol, whatever ..
The way the MG handles is gold, really, its the best thing that happened to gameplay since .. i really cant remember. Its just the best thing ever. But we need that stuff for all weapons or this game will end in a massive dolphin fuckfest.

Im seriously frustrated by that problem, and i can assure you, im not the only one out there ..

Ps. The first Dev to do this, get a box full of cookies i will bake with my own bare hands. And this is no joke, i will seriously do it and ship them anywhere in the world.

Off-Topic / The Boneyard

Google Earth just updated their satellite pictures of the Boneyard with high res photos. And its stunning, could spend hours to search the junkyard and try to figure out what planes those are ..

First one to fine a ww2 plane gets a cookie :)
