Almost everything goes. Better say what does NOT go is finnish "hit" music, hip hop or almost everything in mtv and some extremity metal that you can't make out if it's just noise or noise. Though last time I watched mtv was years ago but I guess shit is shit.

It's hard to do any list because my preferences changes all the time, but if anything is constant, it's; Jimi Hendrix is a God.

Some of the best:

- Pink Floyd
- Tom Waits
- In Flames
- Björk
- Sting
- Anthrax
- Ozzy Osbourne
- John Coltrane
- NIN

I also love soundtracks, the ones that don't include songs from band but melodies written especially to the film. Best Of them:
- Solaris:
- The Fountain
- The Gladiator
- Memoirs of geisha
- The last samurai

I picked up the new Decemberists album "The Hazards Of Love" at the post office earlier today.
I'm through it now for the third time and I'm very enthusiastic. This album beats everything they released so far.
A beautiful one hour story with with music in tons of different moods.

Like I said a WIDE variety of music but my favourite is definitely Michael Giacchino. Nothing beats listening to Panzer Blockade while tanking it in a Tiger  ;D

Medal of Honor: Frontlines - Sturmgeist's Armored Train is a great soundtrack from that list. Reminds me of the good old days. :)

I just started listening to drone doom. Some seriously heavy stuff! Some people say that it has a lot of "brown tones" in it. I can't blame them for thinking that. The soundscape is so low that you almost need to goo to the little boys room.

There is no drums, no vocals, and the beat count is almost 10 per minute. almost, because it is even slower, me thinks.

Anyway, this is just one band, and one album of that band for that matter. But I really liked it. There is more variety in drone doom, but this really opened my ears to the sound.

Other music I listen to:

Mozart Occasionally
Kansas - Most of the time
Queen - One of my favorite bands. don't listen too much, because I want it to stay special
Charlie Christian - Jazz guitarist in the 1930's whose solo's I love to death
Arch Enemy (Later work with Angela Gossow) - Can't beat progressive death metal

And progressive and Symphonic rock and metal in general.
As my tutor, old Bubbleface, used to say:"Make love and be merry, for tomorrow you may catch some disgusting skin disease."

Rowan Atkinson as The Black Adder

I think I'm too lazy to write down my list of my favourite bands/artists, so I'll just write:
Rock / Metal / Jazz / Electronic [mostly, in general any kind of good song is good song].

And of course there is nice little thingy called last.fm ;D

when I was 13-14 years old, I listened to "what was in" at that moment, I had yet to form an opinion of my own.
15-16 Metal and hardrock were my thing, with Iron Maiden and Metallica in focus. this felt like something that could hold on forever, went to 2 maiden concerts and 1 metallica concert.

Something that should be added is that at a young age (like 13) I heard "London calling" and "Give em' enough rope" by The Clash. Even if I didn't listen to them continously, the clash was always in the back of my head, luring and biding its time.

at 16 ½, I thought "everyone talks about Ebba Grön, but I haven't actually heard them! I will give them a chance" (ebba grön is perhaps the most legendary swedish rock band ever, they played punk-music in the 70-80's)
It got a hold on me, I loved Ebba. A friend of mine introduced me to many other punkbands, mainly swedish bands. I started listening more and more to punk, and it now dominated my musical ear.

Here my earlier interest for The Clash was awoken as well.
Even though I still listen mostly to swedish punk, I was also introduced to some swedish pop/indie bands from friends, which were impossible not to love.

Nowadays, I listen to almost everything.
Punk, Indie, Pop, Rock, Hardrock, Metal, Folksongs etc.

Oh right, this christmas (2008) I also discovered what a genious Elvis really was, and he's among my favourites.

I have a very wide music taste, but there is a few things I can't stand.
R'n'B.
"deathmetal" (don't know what to call it, when the singer is growling and shouting - Slayer, slipknot)
Hip-hop works from time to time, and from band to band, but it's not in focus.

Finally, I suggest looking at my Last.fm

Can't beat a bit of Jimi Hendrix. I can listen to his music over and over and over and never get bored.

Actually, anything from around 'Nam makes a great listener.

You my good sir, speaks the truth.
I loved Jimi a couple of years ago, and recently my interest for him has come back!

and yes, practically anything from the 60's is good.

For example, the soundtrack to Battlefield Vietnam, you just can't beat that!
