Suggestions / Re: New idea for a Squad Leader spawn
« on: 08-02-2012, 16:02:57 »
I strongly support a replacement of the actual SL spawning.

More Reasons against SL spawning and another proposal which can be merged with the first one.
- If a team has an advantage in armor quality this is increased even more, when the SL is inside a tank.

- for the SL himself and his team: many good players who could instruct and lead a squad don't do it because of SL-spawn. They don't want to sit here and there and wait the hole round while others are having fun (not to mention points and kills). It is boring for any player but becomes frustrating for an experienced one, when less experienced players eventually mess it all up, while he is playing spawn point.

- Some players leave and rejoin team in order to enable the SL to fight and respawn on another squad member. It's micromanagement and strongly distracts from game play.

The PR soulution is imo improvable. To have an eye on the rally expiration timer or to build a FOB is micromanagement or work instead of fun. In the Forgotten Honor FH2 campaigns we have no longer SL spawning but a PR-like rally point. I would say that it is clearly better than SL spawning but still improvable.

Proposal
-----------
Every squad member should be able to place a rally point (in order to avoid leave/rejoin squad).

Requirements:
- There is no other rally point for his squad
- Another squad member is near (reasons: easier squad elimination, team work)
- The place for the rallypoint is at some distance from flag zones, enemy spawn and rally points and enemy units. (The distance values may differ related to the object: flag (e.g. x), spawn (e.g. 2 times y), unit (e.g. y)).

Characteristics:
- When creator dies or leaves the squad the rally point vanishes after a certain timeout, but one more spawn should be possible. If he does not die it never vanishes but can be destroyed or removed.
- to destroy a rally point any weapon except smoke grenades/rounds should be sufficient
- for the squad in order to remove his rally point the pick up kit command should be enough (like for the grapple hook). Then the squad can move the rally point to another location.
- Spawning at rally point should be blocked when enemy is near (within radius y). When the rally point is blocked for a certain ammout of time, then it should vanish.
 - rally point should not count as a team asset in order to enable the squad to destroy it instead of removing it, if they choose to.

leave the grey frame but remove the white/red bars. I like the idea too.

Suggestions / Re: Game play above all

Oh, yes. This is the hardest, to balance realism, game play and fun in order for the game to be as enjoyable as possible. But as it is not called PR I hope that fun or game play won't be sacrificed only for realism. On the other side it sometimes spoils the fun when things get unexpectable like flying jeeps in BF1942. For me good game play also has a portion of realism so that most players can handle the game intuitively, as long as they know what gravity, ascending force and friction means. :)

Suggestions / Re: Better AA
« on: 07-02-2012, 11:02:33 »
I don't think that removing the greyed icons would hinder the good players much. They are more a help for the new ones. You can't fly the plane looking at the map, you need to know the landscape and find your own markers in order to know when to go to which altitude or do a turn in order to align your plane for an attack. I can't fly planes in FH2 but in other games (usually sims).
I find that the AA is OK. It was far too easy in BF1942, don't know FH, but now it's OK.

Suggestions / Camera views in planes
« on: 06-02-2012, 20:02:38 »
Please tell me if I should have replied to this thread instead of starting a new one: Camera views in planes
I wanted to reply but I got a warning that the thread was more than 120 days old and I should consider starting a new one. So I did. Please correct me if needed.

Slightly modified Suggestion:

4 camera views: cockpit, back and to the sides (I greatly support this suggestion)

My further suggestions:
- Never implement a nose cam please.
- Remove the outside plane cams please. (never ever was a ww2 pilot able to see himself flying except on tape or when dreaming or ascending to heaven) (I also don't mind removing the fly-by cam)

Suggestions / Game play above all
« on: 06-02-2012, 19:02:41 »
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post it because it's an old debate on principles rather than a suggestion. Though I didn't found a thread. I thought to just send am PM to a Dev, but then I thought that a controversy about it would not harm.

What do you think that attracts new players most?
IMO there are two type of players: some go for graphics some for game play but the least for the last detail.
Graphics are imo lovely in this mod but i suppose that the level up to which graphics can be improved is limited by the engine of the game and to rise the whole game to a new level of graphics would cost a lot of time.
You've probably have already guessed that I appreciate gameplay over graphics. This is right.
New players will first notice the overall graphics and the gameplay. Additional content also helps a bit for long time motivation but replayability is founded on game play, which is the key to long time motivation.
So I suggest when in doubt which feature to favor, go for a game play feature if possible.
