Title: Tiering system for the vehicles
Post by: Dancho on 09-09-2018, 23:09:39
Hello all!

I want to suggest ranking system for vehicles. That means one has to become certain rank to ride certain class of vehicles: cars/APCs/Medium Tanks/ Heavy tanks etc. This will prevent people camping from behind ABC line with Tiger II or diying within 30 secs driving the same tank on Ogledow.

They are hurting the teamwork if anything (and my nerves sometimes... and those of teammates sometimes). Actually, Hetzenhauer inspired me to post because he got angry at those reincarnated tank aces and brought the idea.

There is no reason for newbies to be allowed to everything they want. That doesn't exist in ANY FPS GAME. My friends are more interested in games like Heroes and Generals because "it's more fun" but it's actually because of progression and the small things they get after completing something. It's the same with War Thunder, BF series, Red Orchestra, etc.

And Btw, I've seen quite a few times how a random dude (who joined yesterday) dies with a KT after 30 secs of driving and then hops in the next one completely ignoring people with over 400h play time waiting for it.

Even though a meaningful idea, it is too much for FH2 playstyle I think. Forbidding newbies from taking important assets sounds like killing the joy of playing the mod for newcomers. Even though it sucks, I think there is no fair way to prevent this other than enforcing the "wait for your turn" rule.

Dancho pls don't make mention of H&G and other pay2win trash. Your friends just are casual players who prefer all this progression stuff and other bs over the balanced and complicated gameplay. That's bad for them. And what would you say about veterans who use tanks just to farm doing nearly nothing useful for the team or wasting them within same 30 second range?

I took a look at your profiles and found something interesting. You got only 42 repairs after 450h of play. So you don't support newbie tankers as engineer but demand from them to be good. Don't you think this is ridiculous?

Stupid idea. You can't get good without practising which means dying a lot in games like fh2.

Albeit you suggest a ranking system to it, what's the point of giving low rank a light armor more than a heavy armor. Then all the high rank veteran players have a huge advantage over the low ranks. Not only in skill but also by equipment.

By this criteria most of this mod's playerbase should be denied to fly anything but recon planes.

What kind of liberal wonderland is this?

And btw, I repair only things that are needed at the moment. Also I usually pick someone to repair my tank (albeit I am not a great fan of the idea).

It would actually be cool to have local chat like in PR so I can scream that there is an enemy tank 2m to the left  ;D ;D

What do you think about local voice chat?

You have some rather naive ideas about how people gain rank in this game.  Top-rankers have mastered camping parallel to ABC, for example.   Some top guys have never sat in a tank but have just played Annie Oakley(rifle witch) for years to get where they are.

You and your friends should joint the tournament if you want to see FH2 with consistent teamwork and qualified tankers(usually).

You are right about local speech.  If only FH2 Mumble would be revived and integrated, it would change the game considerably.

Stopping newer players from entering the interesting vehicles would probably be the final nail in the coffin for the (small) flow of new players.

"it's more fun" but it's actually because of progression and the small things they get after completing something.

That's a symptom of a casual, ADD videogame player. You don't play the game for the gameplay itself. You need instant gratification. You can't play the game for its various substantial gameplay elements. You play it because you're conditioned by that artificial progress those games have, to trap casuals like you because the game's gameplay itself is as bland and insulting as it gets.

to trap casuals like you

Well that's a little bold considering I never even said I play H&G.

easy with the insults people.

I get the idea behind this, but I really don't want to see it in FH2. I felt like one of the best things about FH2 was how casual it is. I don't have to stress about if I'm being a good SL, or if I'm using this asset correctly like in PR.

Sure, it's frustrating when n00bs take the Tiger on Ramelle, but I like to think that they're having fun with it and it will make them stick around and play more FH2 in the long run, and eventually they'll get better. If they're grabbing it an being intentionally bad to greif the team, that's a different story.

Aside from this, I'd say 90-95% of FH2 players are already "ranked" crazy high since we're mostly all veterans at this point. So it would only discourage new players.

How TF to insert images properly?

Use the picture of Mona Lisa just below the bold button (not sure how else to describe it)

If you quote Von Mudras post, you’ll see the img code that gets used. Usually just brackets with the letters img in it. With a / at the end. Easier if you see it
