Reception of Europa Barbarorum 1:

By Creative Assembly:
Quote
Back in the Rome days, Vercingetorix created tools that were absolutely key to the explosion of Total War modding; tools such as the CAS exporter and the unpacker. You were happy, we were thrilled and some fantastic mods (such as the breathtaking Europa Barbarorum) were born, and enjoyed by thousands, us included. We’re still in awe of what people achieved with Rome and Medieval II’s engines.

Fans of historical accuracy will be delighted with Europa Barbarorum, easily the most well researched of the mods on this list. Five new factions have been added to diversify the barbarian forces, and all of the vanilla factions have been rigorously reworked to bring them closer to what modern scholars know of the era. This is an essential download for history buffs, or for anyone looking to get a more detailed and challenging experience from their copy of Rome: Total War.

Still deciding what to play first.

Rulling out Romani as i`ll play them once the mod reaches a more completed phase, the first version will only have the polybian reform (marian and imperial for later patches)

Ptolemaioi seems awesome, and i loved them in EB1, the new faction Boii seems a good choice as well. Epeiros is my favorite from KH/Macedon/Epeiros, so might choose it too. Casse was my favorite EB1 faction so it would make sense for me to try Pritanoi first but im not sure i want to play my first campaign with a quite isolated faction.

Theres just too many factions!  ;D Bosphorus kingdom and Pergamon will probably have quite an epic and interesting campaign. Theres also Pontus who i played oftenly in EB1... As a matter of fact the only factions i didnt play in EB1 and probably wont play in EB2 are Arche Seleukeia (just too damn big), Koinon Hellenon and Sweboz. But on the last they added Lugiones and the Boii around it, so it seems Sweboz will be much more interesting!

They also added an indian faction, and Baktria as always looks freaking stuning.(they also added a celtiberian faction, a numidian faction and Nabata)

As a matter of fact if you were lazy to check that link to the Introduction Topic i posted in the OP, here are all the factions in the first release, still 2 slots unused for the later versions, they didnt say which factions will be.

01) Aedui -- Gallo-Celtic faction
02) Arche Seleukeia -- Seleucid Diadochi Kingdom
03) Areuakoi* -- Celt-Iberian faction -
04) Arverni -- Gallo-Celtic faction
05) Baktria -- Hellenistic Graeco-Bactrian Kingdom
06) Boii* -- East-Celtic faction
07) Bosporos* -- Hellenistic Crimean Kingdom
08) Epeiros -- Hellenistic Western Greek Kingdom
09) Getai -- North-Thracian faction
10) Hayasdan -- Armenian faction
11) Koinon Hellenon -- Alliance of Greek Cities
12) Lugiones* -- Baltic faction
13) Lusotannan -- West-Iberian faction
14) Makedonia -- Antigonid Diadochi Kingdom
15) Massylia* -- Numidian faction
16) Nabâta* -- Nabataean-Arabian faction
17) Pahlava -- Scytho-Parthian faction
18) Pergamon* -- Attalid Diadochi Kingdom
19) Pontus -- Perso-Hellenistic Anatolian Kingdom
20) Pritanoi -- Brito-Celtic faction
21) Ptolemaioi -- Ptolemaic Diadochi Kingdom
22) Qarthadastim -- Republic of Carthage
23) Romani -- Republic of Rome
24) Saba -- Sabaean-Arabian faction
25) Saka Rauka -- East-Scythian faction
26) Sauromatae -- Scytho-Sarmatian faction
27) Sweboz -- Germanic faction
28) Taksashila* -- Indian faction

* Meaning NEW faction.

I'm thinking Saba, Bosporos, or Lugiones for my first game.  I had a great game as Saba going once (managed to unite all of Arabia) but then the game started crashing every time I tried to load the save :(

Finally. I've been waiting for this since before FH2 even came out. It feels like such a long time. Any news on MP?

Multiplayer? Well battles it will work just like old times, either through hamachi/gameranger now that gamespy s off, or through steam, since the last M2TW patch is supposed to add steam multiplayer to the game.

If you mean hotseat campagin, still no word of it. Though im guessing it will work just like in vanilla. Or if not, theres room open for a Submod anyway.

They wont be in the first release, and i honestly would prefer if they'd use the first 2/3 major patches to put up all the features of the mod (such as all the reforms, more units, etc) than add those 2 factions.

Having that said, a dev said they got one member who is a massive fan of the belgae and that that faction is easier to make and to find up all the info needed. He also said that an illyrian faction is unlikely due to the lact of potential factions.

So i'd say Belgae/ a thracian faction + Meroe maybe, because the dev said they will add 1 in europe and another in the rest of the world.

Some more pics

EDIT: Oh and before you get disappointed it may not be released on the 15th. The devs have said it is supposed to be released around 15th, but that date is not very controllable, what they can control is the month and they said it is 100% sure it will be released in August.

I think their stop date was supposed to be 4 days ago (when they would all of them rush test the game for bugs and etc) but they just added the last unit into the build according to their twitter, so it might be released with a few days of delay.
