FH2 Help / Support / FH2/BF2 and Win8pro compatability
« on: 14-07-2013, 03:07:51 »
Hey everyone.

I am unsure where else to turn for this inquiry. I haven't really found to much by way of help in Google.

I'm having some issues installing Battlefield 2 (standalone copy, not steam) on Windows 8 Pro OS. According to the battlefield forums, and other places on the internet, BF2 is completely compatible.

My issue is, upon putting in the disc, entering CD keys and beginning the install, it freezes at the file "Menu_client.zip".

Anyone have this issue, or better, any tips or such to getting BF2 to work on Win8 Pro? I would consider just buying BF2 on steam, as maybe something is wrong with my CD, but I am wary of wasting the 9.99, and equally am unsure if I will get FH2 working through the steam version of BF2.

Any input is appreciated :)

thanks!

Off-Topic / PS3 - COD5 Mappack 3 - Give away!
« on: 26-08-2009, 19:08:09 »
Hi.

I won a code for the COD5 mappack 3. I was planning on giving it to one of my friends but now they say they don't have COD5 for PS3. I don't have a PS3, so I guess the next best thing I can do is give it away here to someone who wants it and has a PS3 and COD5.

I know a few of you have a PS3 anyways. If you want it post here and I'll PM it to you :).

Thanks,
Apple

Before I begin, please, don't make this into one of the famous political debates that many of us took part in, in the past! I just wanted peoples input, and some more information on this.  :)

I found this somewhat startling.

Quote
House Passes Mandatory National Service Bill The House passed a bill yesterday which includes disturbing language indicating young people will be forced to undertake mandatory national service programs as fears about President Barack Obama’s promised “civilian national security force” intensify.

The Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act, known as the GIVE Act, was passed yesterday by a 321-105 margin and now goes to the Senate.

Under section 6104 of the bill, entitled “Duties,” in subsection B6, the legislation states that a commission will be set up to investigate, “Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.”

Section 120 of the bill also discusses the “Youth Engagement Zone Program” and states that “service learning” will be “a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency”.

“The legislation, slated to cost $6 billion over five years, would create 175,000 “new service opportunities” under AmeriCorps, bringing the number of participants in the national volunteer program to 250,000. It would also create additional “corps” to expand the reach of volunteerism into new sectors, including a Clean Energy Corps, Education Corps, Healthy Futures Corps and Veterans Service Corps, and it expands the National Civilian Community Corps to focus on additional areas like disaster relief and energy conservation,” reports Fox News.

The Senate is also considering a similar piece of legislation known as the “Serve America Act”, which also includes language about “Youth Engagement Zones”.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but what is the age requirement they want for this? Cause honestly, as soon as I read this, and please don't take this the wrong way, but I thought "hitler". When I read some of the information I found, it sounded to me like it was for young high schoolers +.

I know some European countries require high school grads to join for a certain amount of time. But to me this sounds different. What could they possibly teach a 15 year old kid? I'm very confused right now about this, hopefully some of you have further information  :).

Again, please don't argue!

Cheers,
Apple

I thought I'd share with you my frightening experience from today.

Actually, right after I made a post on these forums I got word that there was a bad thunderstorm coming in fast. Two minutes later, it was announced that there is a tornado with an unknown classification coming in fast.

So I immediately got an area ready in the basement. Went back upstairs, looked out the window, and saw an enourmous cell coming right at my development/town.

I was lucky though, because the tornado lifted off the ground right after causing a large amount of destruction to a neighboring town only a mile from me.

Pictures!

Here is the tornado cell lifting off the ground from the town near me.

Hail size comparison:

And here are two pictures I found from other neighboring towns within a few miles from me:

All of the houses in my area need all new siding and about half of them need new windows.

It is very odd to get Tornados like this in Pennsylvania (especially my area).

Azreal, Stylie, you live in PA right? Did you get any odd whether like this today?

Off-Topic / Schematics (again)
« on: 29-03-2009, 21:03:25 »
Well,

Lobo gave me a ton of good schematic websites. Unfortunately, and oddly enough, over the weekend I got a Trojan, and when I went to remove it, many programs/applications were removed a long with it. This includes firefox, and since my schematic bookmarks were in firefox, I've lost them to  :-\.

So anyway. I already know about ww2drawings website for WW2 Armor schematics. So I guess as far as armor goes, I'm in good shape. But I was wondering, maybe some of you have good sites with WW2 sea-craft? Landing craft, ships etc. And possibly, a WW2 hand weapons schematic site. I don't really have trouble finding dozens of hand weapon pictures, including profile shots, but I figured I'd ask about this as well  ;D.

Here is an example:

Would be appreciated.  ;)

Cheers,
Apple
