freeze on join server

Hi when i click on join server my game freezes on the server menu. Ive reinstalled twice cleaned the registry. It does this for pr, vanilla 1.5 and fh2.2. No errors are given on crash. I have also updated my drivers. Single player does work. I have tried with and without router.

Any ideas ???

System specs:
Windows Xp
Nvidia 9750 GT
AMD athalon 64 X2 dual core processor 4600+
2gb ram
Asus M2N-SLIdeluxe motherboard

This happened to me once so far.   I hit Alt F4, restarted FH2, problem went away.  Thank god.

I just started getting this too.  Game was working fine and now I can't get it to stop freezing at server join.  Restart computer, reinstalled FH, BF2, and punkbuster...still doing it.   >:( >:(

Happening whit me ATM.

Trying to join WOLF, failed 3 times. Not even the loading screen appears.

 I got a black screen that froze my comp earlier,

 I ctlr-alt-deleted to open task manager, after about 2minutes, the PC stopped hanging and let me join the game. This only happened to me on the multiplayer page of FH2, so I tried using the FH toolbox to connect to a game and lo and behold, it worked for me. ( it did take a while to load the game through the toolbox but I haven't gotten any hang ups from it yet).

I've had this happen once or twice.  I let it sit for a minute or so, and just when I was about to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, it went forward into the load screen.  Don't know why it did that, but I figured I might as well post a similar experience.  Maybe try waiting a little longer?  I don't know, I'm sure it's not supposed to happen...

when it froze for me the sound went into a loop so i dont think bf2 can recover from that.

 that's what happened to me, i just ignored the sound loop and Ctrl-alt'ed out of the program.

 At least you have freshman week to keep you entertained for now... good luck with this install problem and best of luck at school.

Thanks i hope ill do good. Also i fixed the problem, appearently the 1.5 patch causes some machines with xp to have the bf2 exe set to run in windows 95 causing you to crash.

Oh the joys of BF1.5.
Seems like most problems stem form 1.5 and/or Vista/Win7

Windows 95?!!!  My god.  I was reading this thread trying to help a friend out with a similar problem.  This is like finding out there really are werewolves.
