How about making Oberdorf and Unterdorf cappable only when you have Church? This would be a really great map except for the annoying sneaking people that just drive from allied main to Unterdorf and capping it. Same goes for Oberdorf. This means the allies can only cap Unter when they hold the church aswell and that axis would be able to cap Ober only if they hold church aswell. This would limit the backflag cappers atleast a bit and they'd still have 2 flags they can sneak into!

I would love to fight forward on this map...but the constant back flag capping makes the battle just jojo between church and unter, or church and ober, or church and hof....... back and forth back and forth the whole round.

I like this map a lot, but most people I talk to dislike this a lot, because... "too hard for allies". Well, I always just reply that allies need to teamplay better... Anyway, here are some suggestions to make it easier.

-Have the axis airforce, or atleast the stuka, spawn with a delay. Just give it a timer at round start? Have it spawn once allies hold both south flags? Something else? The axis have the better planes on this one and with the combination of better planes, AA guns and 88's the initial push to south takes too long ticketwise.

-Remove the trees from Allied airfield or atleast the trees behind the beaufighter. Allied airforce is really slowed down because of the airfield layout and it takes like 3-4 minutes to land, repair and take off with those trees blocking "2-way" movement. If there was no trees, landing the beaufighter would actually be a quicker option to kamikazing it after you dropped bombs and waiting for respawn.

-Do axis really need 4 mobile AA (or is it 3 mobiles... still it's a lot.)? How many does allies have? Allies could use one more atleast, maybe even 2.

-Add another AA gun in allied main base to atleast try to prevent the stuka killing tanks right outside of main. 1 bofors and 1 mobile AA get taken down so easily, that maybe another AA could improve the situation.

-What about making the Ghazal Stn capzone bigger, so it's viable for tanks to cap it aswell? First 3 flags cannot really be capped with tanks - how about making the 4th flag a "tank flag"? Even if the allies manage to cap the first 3, the attack usually gets bogged down at Ghazal. I don't even remember when I've seen fighting in El Daba...

-I also would increase the out of bounds area for planes atleast in the north of the map. Allied planes have a hard time leaving main without being seen or shot at by axis.

-Since the axis rarely bleed on this map - how about making them lose tickets after losing flags? I don't remember the ticket amounts, but just as an example: If axis start with 800 tickets, what about losing 50 tickets from both south flags? As I said, just as an example and I do not remeber the ticket amounts, so don't cling on those numbers and just think about the idea instead of replying to the numbers.
This would make the axis defend the 2 south flags harder, but once greyed, they'd have to choose whether they can cap it back and hold it, or would they risk losing another 50 tickets after it's greyed the 2nd time. This would then lead to the fight possibly moving quicker towards west - which is the "main direction" after all.

-Someone waaaaaaay back in time already mentioned moving Allied tank spawns forward once they cap flags. I agree with that.

-What about making the 3rd flag also uncappable for axis once lost?

I've tried to run the game with "all" graphic settings. I've played around with them a lot changing from low-med-high-custom. Even tried to change sound settings and no help what so ever... :(

Last night Sammatus came again and I saw the game crash at 88% while loading Textures. Could this be useful?

I'll try that bcdedit /set increaseuserva thing first and if it doesen't help , I'll just reinstall the whole game and see if that helps. (Running win7 64bit, but I don't want to install the game on C:/programfiles...)

Blood splash with no hit registered can happen with low pings. On 762 server I've witnessed it happen many times and I have a ping around 30-50 majority of the time. I also checked the opponents ping and it was around the same.

BF2 does have shitty hitboxes and netcode so...

You gotta get a new computer :P I don't mind if people are playing on old rigs, but you most certainly can gain an advantage by lowering graphics. Things like lightmaps, undergrowth etc... don't render and make it far easier to see people.

People who lower their graphics with computers that are just fine, are genuinely mind boggling to me.

When you grew up with computers like Amiga, Commodore64, Atari etc. you might not be so into graphics. ;) Personally I still play really old games, because the _gameplay_ is great. Nowadays we just have pretty crap on top of pretty crap with no real gameplay improvements.

Hence my reason to play with lower graphics - I do not care how pretty a game looks. I care about gameplay mechanics being good. :)

How much time does this sort of thing take? I'm interested in signing up for the American side, but these sorts of campaigns often have "training sessions" and such that I just can't set aside time for. But if it's just a few hours every Friday - sign me up!

As Papillon said, you're welcome even if you don't have time for the practices once a week. Most of us are adults with real life responsibilities that come first and everyone understands that. Also, you don't have to play the entire duration of the battle or the practice. Personally I like to play as much as possible, because the experience is so much better than pubbie play.

Not sure if Airsharks message had a typo or not - practices are _not_ mandatory, but they can be very helpful and we encourage people to join them as often as possible. If you can't come, then you can't come - just mention a reason why you can't come on the forums and no one thinks badly of you missing a practice or practices. :)

Some update on this issue.
I've now encountered 3 maps that end up the same way. Sammatus, Westwall and Gela (I know the last 2 aren't official maps.)

Can anyone figure out what these 3 maps have in common that might cause a ctd while loading into an online server? I can load all of those maps in local server, but they all crash when I join online.

Sammatus 64p version. Haven't seen 16p version I could try to join online in a while.
Westwall, 64p version.
Gela, 32p version (I think it was 32p...)

Who has time to look at or think how pretty a map is when the fighting is incredibly intense? How many here honestly plays FH2 for it's awesome look? :D

Had a great time last night fighting around the maps. Looking forward for more action next friday!

I'd just like to point out that the situation is still the same with the planes, mobile AA and axis counterattack.

Once the allies cap all flags, the axis have lost. For gameplay reasons, please give the axis ONE, just one mobile AA of any kind to help the counterattack. This map could be a lot more fun if the axis counterattack had a better chance of working.

I don't even want to play on the allied side, because it's so ridiculously easy to steamroll the axis airforce and tanks.

One more mobile AA for axis could help out and it surely wouldn't change the balance too much.

Ok, it happened again with Sammatus. I've been playing many other maps and haven't gotten any crashes during load except today, when Sammatus came again.

I rebooted my computer and it didn't help with the loading.
I was following FH2 memory usage on sunday and didn't see anything odd. I had no problems loading over 10 maps and didn't have any crashes the entire day (except the old CTD while flying, but that's not related to this issue.)
I haven't modified Sammatus map files in any way and again I could load it in local server.
Didn't get any error messages in windowed mode when I tried to load Sammatus today 4 times.

The weird thing is that I didn't have any kind of problems before - maybe 6 months ago - loading Sammatus or any other map. I haven't changed anything regarding BF2 or FH2 except download CMP and FHT things from community updater.

@Roughbeak, yeah, I start the game with the launcher and also did mention that I tried the "repair" button, but at that point it didn't help.
The error message did specify that BF2/ForgottenHope2.exe instead of the BF2/mods/fh2/bin/FH2launcher.exe

@Slayer, haven't checked mem usage during play, but I'll do that today and see what happens. Also the fps is being shown all the time and I haven't noticed anything weird about that during play. Performance was the same until the map load failed.

@Alubat, I'll try to reboot, if the crash happens again. Never had any problem in first map I load into. Also I need to count how many maps I play and see if that actually matters.

Thanks for the tips all. Lets hope they work. :)

You're serious..? "Program: blaablaa" was the installation folder... I thought the blaablaa/FH2.exe was quite obvious that it meant where the game is installed. It isn't important in any way regarding this issue, but if it really matters that much:

"Program: E:\BF2\ForgottenHope2.exe" that was the line. Everything else is word for word...
