Theta, it can be offset by the ticket bias.
I don't mind getting raped at the beach. It is part of the fun in beach assault maps. I can imagine trying to desperately silence the MGers and Gunners, working together to suppress, fix, and kill them, or use a more frontal approach.

Yeah I think we could add one or two burning sherman wrecks on the beach.

in the beach landing phase the Americans get:
16 landing ships (I think) with 2 MMGs each
2 pickup mortars
2 pickup snipers
2 pickup M1919MMG
1 pickup flamethrower
1 cruiser ship with 4 127mm guns
Kit layout is the normal American Normandy one, but they get the springfield rifle in the scout kit and the M1928 Thompson for the NCO.
Germans have:
2 pickup K98k ZFs
1 pickup MG42 kit
2 pickup G41 kits
3 static MGs in open MG nests
2 static MGs in Bunkers
2 static Lafettes in open MG nests
2 static Mortars
1 5cm Pak38 in Bunker
1 7.5cm Pak40 in Bunker
1 5cm KwK38 in Bunker
1 H39 tank turret
2 FW190 flyovers ;)
The Germans can only spawn with K98ks or MP40s.
After the beach is cleared, the Americans get 2 Stuarts to scout inland with. The Germans get some at guns and stielgranate guns inland.

I'm more interested in that Cruiser with 4*127 mm guns! I thought a certain dev once said we will never see (larger) ships in FH2 because they don't fit the game... Well, well... ::)

It's a destroyer, there was no map for it yet. Let me remind you that we also said there won't be Omaha Beach map ;)

The Fw190 quick recoinnassance flyover was the only luftwaffe activity in the battle.

Just FX, their duty was one thing, what happend is another. AFAIK IRL they didn't attack because AA fire from allied naval fleet was too strong so they withdrawn as soon as they arrived.

Ok, I hope the gamplay will be much better than on such push maps like PHL and PHD where half of the map isn't played mostly... Push modes are ok, but it's really difficult to make playable map with push mode. Seems like you like taking risk and you've created 2 new maps with push modes, so we'll see, I hope soon how they will be played! ;)

As long as the half which is played, is the beach half I'm OK :)

^ Eh it really depends... Usually the last third of the map (not really half) rarely sees action... But it happens, at times (usually when the defending team takes some time to get a decent defense going, then they either get steamrolled or make a last stand on the last few flags). In any case, you can always make the last few flags into 32p & 16p layers (as the devs already tend to do).
Can't wait tp hit that beach! Looks like summer can't come faster! :P

First off, I'm gonna give a big hand to the devs for creating two beloved beach landing maps and making them both unique from each other. Also, putting strategic destructibility into good use with the AVRE and Bangalores (it seems) 8)
I love seeing the minimap and the tentative assets layout too, really brings new perspective to everything. The sector push scenarios sound good as well; once the 3 flags are capped, (which should be really hard) then the Americans get a chance to regroup and push on vierville. (with recon tank support which is awesome)
I'm curious as to the ticket and bleed balance tho. I'm assuming the American are gonna loose A LOT of tickets fighting to get those first 3 WNs on the draw. I just hope it's not too much to put them at an insurmountable disadvantage when they have to push on the town. I can see a lot of new people screaming "unbalanced" for the first few weeks on this map, but I trust the beta testers :P
Also, destroyer?! 8) curious to see if its just for show, but I'm hoping we get to use the guns ;)
Edit: out of curiosity, how long has this map been in the works? was this the one lobo was rumored to have started a looooong time ago? or did that never exist?

Well this is a pleasant surprise. Thought we would never see this map. I wonder who changed the internal policy to allow this map to be released.
These type of maps are great, but a few months after release, they become stagnant(see Falaise Pocket)as soon as players figure it out.
I'm still excited.
Hope there is Commander Radio.....

Seems like some people still can't live with the fact that the next release won't contain Eastern Front...
But, if Devs said that there wouldn't be Omaha, I won't trust them anymore... :P

Because for at least half of 2013, there was no development going on. This has changed now, but as you can imagine, making all that Eastern Front content takes a lot of time. So it was decided to release a patch with Normandy stuff before. Also, there is one big announcement for the next patch left and it will make a lot of stuff clearer.

Since there will be no eastern front content in the next patch, we won't show more until it is released. After that more Russian updates will be coming.

I was wondering if the Omaha Beach map will also feature new/updated American Soldier skins/models? For instance I was thinking about the black chest pouch etc...?

Yes, the map has custom soldier equipment.

US soldiers kept their gas masks in a waterproof black pouch when landing as if their gas mask got wet it would be damaged and wouldn't work.

I see. The regular cloth (right?) pouch would get wet and the mask would be soaked and useless.
Lets hope to see the custom playermodels when the interview comes :)

I'm really excited for this map! Big thanks to the devs, I think it will be lots of fun. This map along with gold will bring in a part of the war that has been missing from FH2. To those worrying about the push mode, I don't think you should worry as much. Ths map was DESIGNED with push mode not MODIFIED to use push mode like most the other maps with this feature, therefore I believe it will work better.
FYI I call first dibs on using the ships guns LOL ;D

Awesome update! I'm glad to hear that we'll be seeing a "mini patch" before the Eastern Front eventually arrives. It will give the game a shot of new content to help keep player numbers up until then.

Great news, great map, great update! Brings good memories back from epic battles at FH1-Map Omaha-Charlie Sector....I'm 100% sure that this map will be pure fun! Can't wait to get my hands on a bunker MG42 and do the classic "spray & pray" ;)

theres only one [concrete bunker with mg] with very limited sight to the beach. its main purpose was to cover the beach exit/entrance.
german concrete defending positions werent placed with direct sights/firing positions direct to the sea. they were set to cover the beach in its width.
but of course there are enough mg nests (sandbags) and trenches to give direct fire ;)
from the guessing thread.

Ah, ok. Then I guess this is the only Omaha Beach map, I know in games what is somewhat realistic. I thought, that the observation bunkers with mg's were like in SPR in real landings, as I think there were military advisors and/or veterans helping with filming of SPR.
