Of course you CAN. But try doing it with a Suomi smg which is actually heavier than what you might think. Not only that, you are in a tense forest and you do this during night time, so visibility is extremely bad. You can still do it, absolutely, but does it make any results than "proper" method? No.

4: No, you can't fire while using skis.  The armies did not train to fire while using skis.  Even finnish ski troops used their skis only to get to combat, then dropped them, fought on foot, then rode off on the skis.  Its too unwieldy, you can't get firm footing to fire a rifle while on skis, considering their point is to NOT have firm footing.

The most common hit & run method was to dismount one foot from a ski so you could take a firing stance from crouch, shoot and then firmly and fast click your boot back into the ski and flee the scene. Of course, most troops to do these "one-ski-on-foot" strikes were equipped with Suomi's, because with a rifle, you are easier target for the enemy. Riflemen tho took both ski's off to fight with more maneuverability. But it wasnt an uncommon sight for a Suomi equipped soldier to just slip out one ski, take a crouch stance and give that ruskie a nice lil burst of finnish loving.

I drove to the purpose of not letting anyone know surely where and when this was taking place, who were fighting against each other nor I never name people with real names neither used any specific names for weapons or vehicles, just to keep the possible potential readers in to know what is really going on. As the whole story, the whole thing is resolved in the last two words. Those two last words reveal which country the soldier is from, who he is fighting against, where he is fighting and when is he fighting.

I was thinking of writing another, maybe even a follow-up to the first one. But I havent gotten around to it yet.

Hope you enjoyed the lil story, always fun to write something.

General Discussion / Re: MG's on the turrets
« on: 19-04-2009, 19:04:29 »
I dont know what is the deal with the AA-mg's. I wouldnt mind seeing them, but I also dont really care if they are there. All in all, they would be a nice addition because you could use the turret hatches for that crouching ability, which is only in the Stuart right now.

More commander hatches open with either mg-positions or not! Tiger or Panther with commander position = drooooooool!

Gazala / Re: Gazala 64
« on: 19-04-2009, 19:04:33 »
Gazala has always been, and will most likely stay as one of my favorite maps in FH2 so far. I am a big buff for the tanks, and this map is ideal for it. Not only is it absolutely beautiful and doesnt leave infantry and flyboys into cold and dark, its tank combat is phenomenal! As an Axis player () I always love to grab the good Panzer 3 or the more bizarre and puny Carro Armato, because nothing feels as good as destroying grants and those pesky Stuarts with your Italian deathmachine. This map truely captures the desert warfare at its best. Definately my pick for a Top FH2 maps list.  8)

Why wont the german devs take matters in their hands and ask about the finnish symbolism then? It is way more easier for them to do it rather than me from here in finland. Of course, point me the way and I shall.

I take this very seriously too, and what makes you think I wouldnt believe you? And if devs already have asked them about songs which can be used in a non commercial mod, then I bet someone snappy enough can toss in a question and ask whats the deal with the symbols?

Point me a direction and Im on my way. First tho, I will fetch my pizza.

And on what type of paper you want this letter be printed on?

Hakenkreuz
Symbol der NSDAP
(in allen Variationen verboten), this means forbidden in all its variations.

So dear flippy, we have three options, the horrible dreaded roundel, no symbols at all or no finnish in the mod, your choice.

So now it is upto me if we have finns in the mod or not? What an honour.

Are these categorized under the same "variants" then?

I can see why you would say yes to the Airforce swastika, and to be honest, I dont mind seeing it being gone as I dont seriously see future for finnish airforce within FH2 anyways due to engine limitations. I would continue this explanation further, but our newly established NDA doesnt let me to. So I go no further.

But I do not see the connection between the Nazi swastika and the Finnish Armoured Vehicle swastika, at all. A normal Joe doesnt pick the ones from another, but most of us arent normal Joes and knows the difference. It just stinks that we have to bend over and get it up our asses because of german laws. For example, wikipedia (given it doesnt always grand all the 100% precise information) doesnt mention those two swastikas being illegal. It does mention about banned similarities, but yet doesnt list them, nor hindu or buddhist swastikas.

For the final score - I have never minded we dont have the Nazi symbols in. While I agree it would be even further towards the historical accuracy, I do not mind them being absent because I understand the reasons behind it. What I dont get into my obviously thick skull is why on earth do us finns need to be on the same fail boat with the Nazi swastikas?

Answer is obvious. People cant separate things, black from white and right from wrong.

If I were to choose, I would have no symbols at all for the finns. But that doesnt mean I change my stand against the "silly" portion of the laws.

Also, Biiviz: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strafgesetzbuch_%C2%A7_86a

EDIT: More fuel to the machine. Even the page provided by Lobo doesnt have finnish swastikas as banned ones.
