Windows 10
« on: 02-06-2015, 00:06:52 »
I'm guessing that most folks who are running Windows 7 have noticed an icon on the start bar for the free Windows 10 upgrade.  Has anyone upgraded yet, and if so are they able to run FH2?

Thanks.

Any older games should work fine with compatibility support. It's basically the same as Windows 8, but with new features like DirectX 12. It also hasn't been released yet, but it's completely free for any Windows 7 and Windows 8 users for a year. I know I'll be upgrading from 7, as I plan to take full advantage of the gaming features it will have.

Win 7 is the new Win XP. Will probably upgrade my OS in 7 years time just like with my last PC/OS.

I really need to spend some time reading about it online.  A friend from work told me that MS is changing their revenue model with Windows 10, and that they will charge a yearly fee for the OS going forward with 10.  That is something I'm not so keen to do.

Still... I might check it out down the road.

Thanks everybody for your responses.

So. I tried out the win 10 pro upgrade from win 8.1 last night, just for some testing and fun

Only gfx + usb modem drivers was installed. The rest windows fixed itself
looks and feels much like win 8.1.
Used some hours of internet reading & tweaking/fine tuning OS to get as low as possible system latency to avoid input lag while gaming. A lot needs to be turned off or disabled in this OS

results

Dpc latency is ok, 5-40us but can be better. Hopefully the next months will show what to tweak in win 10 to get better system latency.

Loading times when starting fh2 or map loading seems a little faster than win 8.1 or 7

I used the same nvidia 347.09 driver for gtx 760 as I used on win 7 & 8.1 partition
Fps is very good as expected.
Alt + tab into desktop and back into game works without crashing

Latency/Ping while gaming seems more smooth/stable than win 7 & 8.1 which is the biggest positive impression I got from the new OS.

 :)

Is this really new? I mean, Windows has collected data for years without most people knowing it, right?

I installed 8.1 on my PC a year or two ago and have never been able to get FH2 to work on it. Just jumped to 10 and now I'm thinking of giving the install another shot.
