Always welcome guys  8)  If you don't mind the strange hours and big ping  ;D

The generosity of the AEF Clan with local FH2 servers, the revival of the FHT Oceania FH 0.7 player base into FH2 and loyal support of our PR mod cousins from BigD Gaming, have all contributed significantly towards building a self sustaining tournament and community.

In addition to the tournament, we have a ranked public server with a unique mix of 16, 32 and 64 player maps (voting enabled), to cater for close up combat in the quieter periods as well as favourites at peak times.

General Discussion / Re: Best high traffic time to play?
« on: 11-07-2011, 11:07:39 »
For those in upside down land or on the border of tomorrow, the AEF FH2 Public Server is based in Sydney, Australia.  It's also home turf for the F|H Oceania FH2 tournament.

http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/202.62.137.195:16767/

The busiest time is generally at weekends, during the week many of the regulars are in tournament training.

There are also a couple of servers in Japan, including what is currently listed as a 96 player affair and also a co-op.

In the absence of a proper sub forum for Forgotten Hope here in its own home, the best current resource for support is the Pixel Fighter Community.

Shameful treatment of the original FH to say the least.

Agreed ... or Forgotten Hope has always deserved to keep its own sub forum here.

It might not be officially supported any more, but it is an acclaimed and much loved legacy of where this mod has come from which deserves a bit more respect than being banished to oblivion by its own home.

Also there are some of us here who still retain some valuable knowledge for those who frequently come here looking for answers.

Shame on you FH forum staff.

Its probably from the Pixel Fighter Community.

BF1942CF (Battlefield 1942 Compatibility Fix) is a Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit fix database (.sdb file) in an executable installer.

This sets only the individual compatibility fixes necessary to run BF1942 with FH in Vista and Win7 without invoking the complete OS compatibility mode.  The full mode contains a long list of fixes that aren't required for BF1942 and cause unnecessary system restrictions.

The other useful feature of using a tailor made fix is that it is not seen by PunkBuster as Win98 compatibility mode, which was excluded by evenbalance and will cause kicks from PB enabled BF1942 (and thus FH) servers.

I've actually recreated it myself using the MS toolkit and the only fixes required are:

EmulateHeap - emulates the functionality of the Windows 9x heap manager
NoGhost - no window ghosting
Win98VersionLie - Hooks the GetVersion and GetVersionEx APIs so that they return Windows 98 version credentials

For the full low-down on running FH 0.7 in Vista and Win7, the PFC site is the place to visit.

Easy gents, this isn't the appropriate place for an escalation, especially on such an emotive topic which often gets locked in a ball of flames.

I hear the distant beat of moderator black chopper blades.

But how can I set my joystick sensitivity? In my operating system I can only set deadzones... Maybe by setting deadzones will help me... Sb told me that it's possible to set sensitivity in game, but it also relates to mouse sensitivity... But changing it also didn't help me...

I have a Saitek Cyborg evo which is, blimey, about six years old.  The Cyborg is a such great stick for general flying, being robust, reliable, amazingly programmable and has adjustable parts for left handers.  I can't and don't want to replace it except with another one.

Adjusting the Mouse Settings sensitivity in Aircraft controls has a profound effect and its not like the mouse gets affected anywhere else.

I've also maintained my Cyborg by lightly greasing the ball joint, spring and its floating plate at the base of the stick shaft.

The other place to alter sensitivity of Cyborg axes is in the Saitek Profile Editor.  Any of them can be set to Directional Axis mode which then shows sensitivity sliders.

The dead zones only need to be wide if the jitter on the axes is actually affecting the controls in game.

To be honest, they are the response is that sloppy in BF2 that a small amount of axis flicker makes bugger all difference most of the time.

My pet project was working out how to use the POV hat for mouse look ... without having to press a separate key.  It can be done using a Cyborg, with some minor controls.con editing and setting up the right Saitek profile.

Settiing it up is not for the faint hearted ... but mission accomplished and it's great!

That's for another topic perhaps.

I'm a southpaw, so choice is limited.

My Razer Copperhead finally gave up the ghost a few months ago and I finally settled for a Razer Lachesis.

Both are hand neutral, as left handed mice are as common as rocking horse shit.

Impressive indeed!

Ported or not, excellent job ... when I return to civilisation I'll be signing back up for sure.

Last week's scrim was contested by even numbers and hard fought, with the Axis gaining early momentum.

The first live shots of the campaign for Italy are fired in this week's battle on Saturday, at Biazza Ridge.

One of our guys managed to wedge the Tiger between the fountain and church on Ramelle a few weeks ago, with some crazy collision mesh action ensuing.

When it finally broke loose ... it almost cleared the height of the tower.  Spectacular.
