Hey All,

I can't get the patch to install due to this error message when its verifiying the data.

15:21:24: Failing with 'Existing installation not valid for this patch' because: wrong existing file hash
15:21:24: Patch suitability verification failed: Existing installation not valid for this patch

anyone got any ideas?

I have not modified any of the folders in the fh2 folder, so im at a loss.

thanks,

Buddy

Do you have version 2.26? Did it work the last time you played?

Does the patcher point to the directory where you have installed BF2?

Have you checked your hard disk for errors? If you have a file error in FH2 files they will fail to patch.

Are you sure you don't have malware on your comp which could have modified the FH2 files and/or installer (scan with a reliable antivirus just in case)?

The easiest way is probably to delete FH2 altogether and download the full installer, if you have a reasonably fast internet connection.

I Played last night and everything was fine.

The Patcher does point to where bf2 is installed yes.

Im downloading the full install of Fh2 as we speak and hopefully that will be a last resort.

thanks for the speedy reply!!

Anyone figured out why this fault is. I needed to upgrade to Windows 7. Reinstalled Fh2, in a separate partition from my Windows partition, yes. Installed Fh2.26, tried the patch 2.3, and it failed... I know it isn't corrupted cuz it happened when I first installed it on my PC and later worked. I just don't know how to replicate that

Here's a screenshot:

Also I want to install BF2 with 1.41 and another with 1.5, the latter to play online, the former for Singleplayer with ESAI patch. Anyone know how I can do 2 instances of an install. BF2 only gives me the option of uninstall after I install

I suppose you could try to copy BF2 into the same folder. You would have two installs in that then, one called "BF2single" and one "BF2multi". Whenever oyu want to play one of them you rename it to "BF2"

Could it have been corrupted during your new windows setup?

Doubt it, the issue existed before. But after a number of tries, it went through. I actually have 2 versions I'm trying. One from the passworded ZIP and the other, already extracted. Both give me that error.

The error occurs at Validation, not verification....

My second bet would be a problem with Win7's UAC service that prevents something being copied somewhere without telling you.

No, I always get a good antivirus and turn that darn thing off. Besides, the first time it happened was on Windows XP. Story goes:
1/ Installed XP
2/ Installed FH2.26
3/ Attempted to install 2.3.... FAIL
4/ Attempted to install 2.3.... WTF! FAIL
4/ Attempted to EXTRACT 2.26, then 2.3 into the same folder.... FAIL
5/ Reinstalled FH2.26
6/ Attempted to install 2.3.... PASS
7/ Installed Windows 7
2/ Installed FH2.26 in other partition
2/ Attempted to installed FH2.3....Fail....FUUUUUUUUU!

That's interesting. What version of Win7 did you chose?
I got Win7 64 Bit Professional and the updgrade from 2.26 to 2.3 was smooth and really awesome fast.

I turned down the win7 security system that allows you to make copies of files without asking in the win-vista style.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I shouldn't have an issue since I've installed it for friends before I got my machine up and running and it was without a hitch. Now, however....

Well, I should be getting the full install by tomorrow, maybe I should just wait it out. Still would've been good if there was a clear solution for this - Not just for my sake...

If it were a common problem.
How many GB RAM do you have?
