Got a summer job working at a 'nature resort' (basically a park in the woods with a load of campsites, a hotel, a couple pools, hot tub, that kind of thing). My job for the past month or so is to get it ready for summer, raking leaves and cleaning the pool out and that kind of thing. I've been introduced to a great many tools, plenty of which make for great air guitars but nothing that even remotely reminded me of Forgotten Hope, even though I tried as hard as I could to make that happen, until today, when I got to trade in my trusty shovel (which now that I'm sitting here writing this out probably should've reminded me of a good few spaten assaults on enemy flags) for a fancy kind of shovel. I don't know the exact name of it but it's a long broom handle with a lightbulb-shaped thing on the end, and stick it in the ground and by pulling a lever instantly dig a small hole, perfect for fence posts, which is what I was installing today.
The thing is, this tool, whatever it's called, looks like a panzerfaust. The silhouette is nearly identical. You stick the fausty end of it in the ground, press the lever (near where the trigger would be), and voila, in goes a fence post. Except I wasn't building fences today, I was hunting Shermans in Normandy. I wasn't digging holes in the ground today, I was sneaking across a field in Russia on the hunt for some T-34s. It's been a long time coming, but I've finally found a tool I use at work I can manage to bullshit myself into daydreaming of FH for. The gun for the power washer looks nothing like my trusty G43, the leaf rake doesn't look anything like a PIAT, but God damn, all it takes is a little imagination and this fence-hole digging thing can blow up any tank for miles around.
